How many of you guys experienced wheel spin in your S3's?
It has happened a couple of times to me now whilst pulling out of junctions in particular...
Had a few Quattro cars now and from recollection none of them gave me issues of wheel spin..
Forgive me if this has been covered in other posts...ps
    Gifs and 'Banter' allowed...:haha:

Must admit I've not had it, even when the road was very wet and I booted it off the lights (late at night & nobody around) it didn't spin at all, just gripped and went like stink.

It never happened on any of my other cars with Quattro A4/A3..This is the first one I have had with as much bhp..It happens at the same junction when my steering wheel is turned right hand down and I set off not really nailing it but a little if you know what I mean. Do I have an issue ???

I've had it a couple of times recently, pulling right out of a junction when I need to take off. Bear in mind it's damp, cold and miserable, won't help. I'm not sure Haldex would allow the car to shove itself forward if the wheels are turned and slipping from standstill?

Good point..Just don't recall experiencing it in my other cars..It does seem to be the front wheels spinning...:friends:

Yeah, as above maybe a couple of times full throttle pulling right or left out of a junction but pulling away in a straight line..............no chance :)

It's only covered 1200 miles and I haven't tried 'Launch Control' yet so I might use the opportunity to try it out and see if I have an issue with the 'Haldex' control??

Wheel turned right or left before take off will incur ever so slight wheel spin mate so l have experienced
However l Much prefer to jump away from junctions in a slightly different Manor lol

I have to be moving, fairly briskly, to feel like the rear is coming into play.
Funnily enough I did a rapid cross-country trip Sunday night in damp greasy conditions and it felt more oversteery than understeery, although I'm not sure that was entirely down to the conditions.

In a straight line I don't have hardly any spin even using launch control but if i'm pulling out of a junction with some lock on you can feel the inside wheel start to spin just before the rear is given power. Then if it is wet i've even had the back come out :)

I've read somewhere the haldex is slower than the one used in the 8P, lighter but slower.

    Broken Haldex / Haldex Pump?
    It's not uncommon.
    No warning lights.

Yes. Gen 5 Haldex deleted the Accumulator, putting in place a variable speed pump, so now takes time to build pressure. It's no longer "Instant Traction", no more accumulator to store pre-primed pressure.

I get it turning left, or primarily right out of junction. There's one junction in particular that tends to be covered with a bit of gravel and is on a very slight uphill slope and I get it there very regularly.

Are we establishing that its considered "normal" for the 8V though?

I think so, with 300hp and only FWD I don't think they'd stop spinning until 3rd gear lol

This is what I am seeing as "normal" for my S3. I tested on a muddy field the other day and the car spins both front and back wheels (on passenger side at least and seeing as I do manage to go straight, I'm assuming it's the same on drivers side!), so no broken haldex...

But you pull out of a junction and give it some beans and it'll spin those fronts (really noticeable if the surface is poor), my old V6 haldex didn't behave like this. I don't know if it's slower haldex causing it, camber of wheels or what but it's ****** annoying!

P.S. And what is it with all these daft GIF's all of a sudden?

I don't believe the s3 has limited slip diffs so it probably was just the one side

All four wheels were in the field but I only had an observer on one side - I'm pretty sure if it was only one side, I'd be doing more doughnuts :)

The S3 8v has electronically controlled slip diff so as you said all four wheels would have been spinning (I think:readit:)..
