So my S3 went yesterday, a dealer from Doncaster came to collect her. Sad to see her go but I had an offer on a new 69 plate M5 for September that I just could not refuse.

Was always a tough ask to follow the M3 but the S3 certainly grew on me, so nimble and effortless pace. The car was very good, Audi however were a real let down from start to finish (apart from financial services who were very efficient and good to deal with).

Thanks for all those who have helped me on here with various questions about the S3 before, during and after buying. I will be sticking around if you don't mind a BMW owner on here :icon thumright:

Wow the S3 didn't hang about long and I thought my change was quick lol! Welcome to stick around, got plenty of BMW converts at the moment. M5 is a proper machine so not surprised you took the plunge!

Fair play, if/when my S3 goes awol or backwards through a hedge the M5 would likely be #1 on my list.
Fantastic machine for what feels like sensibleish money (performance/pound).

I'm very bored of my S3 Saloon, if you don't mind me asking, how did you go about selling to a dealer, the only thing putting me off selling is having to deal with the random public and the possibility of getting mugged for it, rather get less through a dealer.

Try Tootle, sold my car through em and got close to private sale price

Thanks all

@JonW - i was going to put it on Tootle but when i first put ad up it wasn't accepting new cars due to "technical difficulties" and then a few days later the website disappeared. Seems they have folded unfortunately.

So i advertised on the following:
Wizzle - similar to Tootle but doesn't seem to have as many traders although that may now change!
AutoTrader
Ebay Classified
Pistonheads
Emailing any sports/specialist car garages directly that have the "sell my car" options (forum Sponsor is good on here)

I thought the shotgun approach may be best, in the end i got a decent price. Mine was the cheapest 19 plate on AutoTrader but only 8 calls via them. One from a lovely chap who thought £26k was a fair offer as that's all he could afford. Ebay/PH got a fair few contacts, had some interest from traders route inc forum sponsor who were good. In the end trader who bought it beat other offers and was willing to wait until yesterday for collection as i had family commitments on the weekend.

Would have liked to have gotten more for it but think i did ok given the current climate and the whole transaction was very easy. I am just thankful i got a good discount to begin with otherwise i just simply couldnt have moved on the M5 deal.

As i mentioned Audi Financial Services (VWFS) were good, dealer paid me, i sent bank transfer to Audi with correct details on and then rang them. They were able to confirm receipt of the payment into their bank after 5 mins and then within 30 mins of call i had an email to confirm they had no more interest in the car. With BMW it took them 48hrs for the email which was annoying although they did confirm over phone the payment was received just not cleared.

Try Prestige Performance in Yorkshire, my 3 door S3 went there last week. They are site sponsors as well, very good service from them, better money than WBAC, obviously not as good as selling privately but less hassle.

Some pics of the replacement that I picked up yesterday.

A truly remarkable car, met all expectations and then some.

Yes, wow, that is very nice - is it X-Drive or just RWD ?

That Chrome surround needs removing...Apart from that very nice big saloon car but personally l would have a RS3 Saloon before a M5

Ignore Jassy, there is nothing wrong with chrome!

I would not have (be able to justify) either but I would go for an m5, or m3 or m4 before any Audi.
