Hi guys my names Simon im 22 from Hull, this is my first Audi after coming from Subaru Ownership i know all about money pits, instead i was hoping for a more reliable all rounder instead of just a weekend car. So here i am finding myself in S3 ownership. I've owned the car for just under 2 months and wanted to create something i could document the progress i make on the s3, modifications aswell as maintenance. So here is the car at the showroom when i went to look at it. Facelift 3 door S3, 2 previous owners, 62k miles, bose sound system, flat bottom wheel and wingbacks;

The first photo in my ownership when we was on the way home

Was then greeted with some nice beading the following morning;

Then i gave the car a good wash and took some photo's, found out the car came with a resonated Milltek catback too which is a bonus;

Then i ordered a Milltek resonator delete;

41642687735_091e77a8bc_o.jpg

Then on the list was to tackle the front brakes and wheel arches. So here's what we started with and then i stripped everything back, rust killed and treated then painted. New OEM S3 caliper clips, painted the pad carriers, calipers and disc centres;

Now onto a maintenance item, the Cam follower, order everything i needed from TPS and set about it;

Then as it would happen the following day my PCV Valve decided to fail, so i ordered everything i needed once again from TPS Along with Cambelt kit, waterpump and multibelt;

Then i finally managed to get my first upgrade, some new wheels. Audi v Spoke Replicas, sealed in carbon collective sealent, black stick on wheel weights and i have some genuine centre caps and nut covers to go on;

That brings us upto this weekend. My task was tackling a slight gearbox leak from a rotten end cap, so as per i ordered the bits i needed from TPS and set about it;

Lastly i bought a honeycomb grill off ebay so set about fitting that, painting the radiators and crash bar black and cutting out the badge holder along with ordering a new genuine grill badge and 3 torx mounting screws from TPS;

So after doing all that on saturday i woke up this morning and my front passenger coilspring decided to snap, so thats another job to now add to the list. Swear this car is giving me nothing but issues so far but hopefully its getting there now, just the haldex oil and filter to do then onto modifying it.

Comments and feedback highly appreciated, simon.

Welcome to the forum and to S3 ownership.
You’ve made a good start - the Wingbacks are a win, they are so expensive to retrofit.

What mods do you have in mind?

I’ll be following your progress with interest.

best 5 min I've spent in quite some time. Love IBIS white and everything you've done

I wonder if you have a map on the car already? It would be unusual for someone to put a Milltek catback on as the only mod to the car.

We bought a TTS as an Audi approved car that was mapped already but we did not realise at the time of purchase.

Welcome to the forum! Are your rims 7.5J or 8J? What ET is it? I have same tyres but they are stretched and look round on my 8J rims, so I guess yours are 7.5?

Love the ibis White S3's!

Looks awesome man!

Where did you get those caliper clips from? Are they genuine? I need some ha

Thanks Sam, i didnt know anything about the wingbacks until my painter friend who also owns an S3 and works at Audi steered me in the direction of them. Mod wise is the usual intake, exhaust, some more wheels and a few external changes

Thank you i appreciate you taking the time to read it, i enjoy reading other build threads so figured id make a good progress thread for others to follow.

Anything is possible i guess, i want to get the car remapped eventually anyway.

Hello, my wheels are 18x8 et45 i believe. Tyre size is 225/45/18. I wanted genuines but i believe the genuine 18” were 7.5j or them 19”/20”

Love the ibis White S3's!

Thanks shane, long road ahead. Yeah they are genuine, ordered from TPS cost me around £70 but well worth it when you look through the wheels imo.

Slippery slope! If you’ve been there with your Subaru then you’re nearly prepared for what lies ahead - the difference will be the number of zeros on each purchase receipt!

Great start......however this thread will be many pages long before you sit back and think......I think that's about it :)

Car is looking nice , maybe changing colour off wing mirrors either to blavk or white wrapped and rear diffuser black :thumbs up::thumbs up:

You just missed out on 2 black oem heated wing mirrors that would have looked lovely in your car . Mind Black n White not Bl +Wh+Silver :thumbs up::thumbs up:

Then everyone will think you have a 1.1 diesel and are trying to tart it up :) I get it...going for the sleeper look :)

So a little update nothing major but a few more bits ticked off the list, firstly painted up the rear brakes, still got the wheel arch wells to tackle in a few weeks time, so before;

Also replaced the broken front coilspring but the pinch bolt snapped when undoing it in the hub, luckily managed to get it out and ordered a new bolt and nut from TPS.

Next few jobs on the list are Haldex Oil & Filter and rear Diff Oil and the Rear arches rust killing and painting.

Stick with Grey, matches the wheels and wing mirrors :) and make sure your next set of tyres have decent rim protectors cus you are going to need them :)

Only black parts are front grill, front splitter and my soul.
Sorry for a bit of off topic simon:beercheers:
Ok and there was me thinking that was black mirrors please dont tell me there Silver or @paddy will have a field day :thumbs up::thumbs up:

Picture in the dark. They are not silver. They are brushed alu actually :whistle2::beercheers:

I have brushed alloy, its a sign of great intelligence and stupendously good looks. I think Jimmy savile and Gary Glitter had black mirrors ? :sign omg:

So time for another update, ever since i got the S3 the front pipe had a universal flexi bonded and clamped in place which it was forever hissing from, so i ordered a Milltek Decat downpipe;

Ive since had the car live mapped, with 2nd lambda delete and pops and bangs mapped in. Pulls alot harder now and sounds great. Then this weekend i set about refurbing the rear wheel arches so heres what we started with;

That brings us upto date, would like to remove the rear bumper and attack any rust there is in there and the boot floor, would also love all new suspension and to powdercoat the rear subframe assembly eventually.. this could soon spiral out of hand. comments welcomed.

Looks like this S3 found a perfect owner! Epic start to a progress thread Simon!

He must be if he is willing to risk his MOT qualification on this :)
I know, some people are willing to live life on the edge I guess. Many people just keep the Cat and put it on when MOT time comes, so that's an option.

Thanks means alot, think I follow you on Instagram too.

Will see how the Mot tester feels next year when the Mot is due, he tested my subaru with no problems. I do still have the original if need be.

I don't think you need a cat by law but its almost impossible to pass the emissions test without it.
