evening,

the side window trim on my s3 has peeled. It looks like its riveted into the door - so not easy to remove. any suggestions how to resolve?

I think i saw carbon fibre caps you can stick on or remove and replace but i can't find them anymore for.my self as i have a ant sized rust dot on one of mine. Other than that its just a matter of removing them sand down prime paint and lacquer or powdercoat which is better, may have to drill out the rivets though unless you have screws holding them in.

Buy the Audi gloss black ones, drill the rivets out, refit with new rivets.

The trim on mine started to flake off pretty bad so I took mine to a wrapping company where I had limitless options to re-trim it.
I did however go for a standard Matt black as it matched the rest of the car and only cost me £30 - £40.
That was four years ago and you couldn't tell that it wasn't standard trim.

thanks. how did you remove and refit?

I didn't have to, it was done in situ on the car.
Any experienced wrapper (is that what they're called???) should be able to tuck all the edges away without anything showing.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the gloss black trims?

Or as an alternative, what models were they standard fit on as my local Audi garage is not being very helpful.

Thank you.

I'm going to a local auto wrap place friday to get a quote for wrapping mine, i'd prefer them taken off the car, wrapped and riveted back on but i'll see what they say.

Depending on cost difference i'll either go for that or buy the ones in the link which they have confirmed are the glossy ones fitted to facelift S3's

My local audi specialist tell me they will replace them for me in 20 mins. Said it's an easy swap over just need to be careful with the drill..

Be interested to see what an audi dealer quoted for them.

I replaced my passenger side one a couple of months ago.

New trim, foam underlay and rivets cost about €30 from my local Audi.

Very simple job to change.

Be careful with the drill, use a sharp drill bit.

Prise off the old trim from the rear window edge.

Keep in mind I’m in Ireland so prices may vary a little.

No rivets on my 57 plate A3, just screws. I've wrapped one side myself in black and it looks great......couple of quid for vinyl wrap from eBay, then about an hour of my time using my wife's hairdryer applying it. Will do the other side when I order some new wrap.

My 2008 pre-fl is riveted too I’ll replace with the glossy ones shortly

I took mine off, sanded them right the way down, primed them and sprayed them gloss black. Nice easy fix and made a big difference.

Bought genuine replacements on ebay. 09 Sportback. Couple of screws and was sorted. Only needed todo one side but did both so no problems later on.
