S3 Servicing

I've seen a couple of posts on here mentioning service packages for x number of years/services being negotiated at the time of sale. I asked about this when I bought my car but was told they weren't available on 'S' models. Has anyone managed to secure a package on their S3?

I'm also torn between the normal vs long life servicing. I believe on the normal package the 1st service is due after 9 months but on long life its more like 18. I'm fairly sure i'll stick with the normal package but is it a waste of money when I don't intend to keep the car for more than 3 years? (PCP)

Given that an S model is likely to get driven harder it's probably prudent to stick with a normal service schedule. Guess if you're on a PCP and the dealer is happy to have it on a long life plan there's no arguing it'll save you same cash.

The used 15 plate S3 I looked at during the weekend had a service pack and was covered until Aug 19. I Normally only keep cars around 3yrs and would still stick with a normal yearly service interval no matter how it's driven. I've been doing mini service (oil and filter change etc) every 6 months and would still do this even on a brand new car.

You can get service packs on them but they have to be paid for before the car is registered.

I agree with yearly, but 9 months seems excessive.

Any idea how much they are? I think i'd have a case for getting one after the event as I did ask at the time.

Not sure. I did ask a week after collecting my car, she said that they do offer it but I would have to take it before registration as the fixed plans don't apply to a new car, only 3 years plus.

She basically told me that it's just as cheap to pay separately, no big gain.

I think you're confusing time with mileage so 9k or 18k miles rather than 9 or 18 months. New car service packs vary in price as you can have them covering basic servicing or tyres etc.

I was aiming to do 1k a month so that might be where the confusion has came from. I've done 4.5k since mid Jan so far but my commute has recently halved so that should reduce.

Does anyone have the information to hand on what is required in each service? I assume it'll be on the forum somewhere but i'm a beginner so go easy on me!

I did a 4 year Canadian Audi service plan, it consists of 4 yearly service intervals of two minor and two major services including Haldex servicing at a cost 0f 450 quid and this was substantially less costly than paying for each service. As, others have mentioned, this was paid for at delivery of the car.
This service plan can be used at any Canadian Audi dealership, not just the one you dealt with.

I got a 3 year deal for £399 when I purchased mine - much cheaper than payg. But I don't think Audi offer that any longer.
As far as fixed or variable servicing is concerned, it all depends on mileage. Upto 10K per annum you should be on fixed (annual) servicing. Over 10K it's variable (when the car tells you). The regime should be set by the dealer in the DIS before collection (or in my case at first service because they forgot to do it - the default is variable)
