Looking at info on the net it seems that the S3 saloon standard 19” wheels are forged and only weigh 9.7KG each whereas the optional 19” 5 arm design come in at 12.3kg and the 19” V spoke ones at 11.8KG. One would assume that the latter two are both cast? Has anyone had any issues with any of these wheels being buckled as on paper it appears the standard ones are lighter and maybe stronger??

Can't comment on how strong they are, but the standard saloon wheels are the best.. they are stunning. Really complex, in the way that imagine your spokes normally sit are flush with the inside of the rim but on these wheels the outside edge of the rim, is behind the spokes too. It makes them a bit fiddly to clean as you have to get behind the spokes but they are worth it. I really can't explain it any better than that haha. The spokes are half way more forward than they would normally be.
I like the wing arms, I have them on mine... the V Spoke wheel was always my favourite but if I had a choice now it would be the standard wheel.

The standard twin spoke star design wheels are some of Audi's best, in term of looks.
When I ordered mine, for some strange reason the dealer took it upon themselves to change the wheels from standard to the `Arm wing` design, that looks like they should be on a 2.0 TDI. I went off it, as I expressed many times I wanted the standard wheels. Luckily I spotted in on the order form, and got them to change it back to standard. If I'd missed it, and the car had turned up with wrong wheel, then either the dealer would have paid for them to be changed, or I'd have rejected the car.
The standard S3 19" wheels look far better than the RS3's standard wheels, or the horrible optional ones. Yuk !!

I think your weights are a bit out, not sure they are that light!
For example, standard 18" S3 wheel with Continental Tyre = 21.5KG. Just weighed mine yesterday!

Yes they do, but point being you're saying the 19" A3 options weigh less than the 18s.
I haven't looked at the weight of the 18's to be honest, I'll have a look later.

As far as I remember, in a previous thread, the standard 18" do weigh more than the standard 19"
