S3 Saloon arriving next week - security?

For the sake of £300 for 4-5 years cover on most policies, If I'd paid £40k outright for an S3 or similar car and in 2 years it was written off and I received £25k from my insurer, I'd be pretty happy that the extra £300 I paid for GAP got me an additional £15k payout personally.
That said there are some policy providers out their where the cover isn't worth the paper it is printed on.

My nephew bought a Corsa for £8,000 last year, I told him to take out gap, he wasn't up for it at first!!!...He's glad he listened to me now
