Obviously there's a lot of variables involved but to give you an idea the other half does ~14k/Yr in her S3 and drives fairly gently with a lot of motorway miles. She gets through £50-60 of super unleaded a week (35mpg, but spirited driving will go well below that!), insurance is around £400 plus an annual service and tax. Allow £100 a corner for tyres.

yeah, fair enough! I mean for starters my insurance is going to be £1,400 at the cheapest but I’m putting my savings towards the insurance so not too worried by that main concern was fuel I think I worked it out to be about 3-4K a year driving at 25-30mpg average!
Just my personal opinion.....but 17k miles per year would be way too much for me to even consider running an S3.

Unfortunately I work inside the M25 so diesel is likely to become more expensive to run due to tax rates on diesel cars. But I get what you mean, and I currently run petrol but granted that’s a 1.4l not a 2.0l turboJust my personal opinion.....but 17k miles per year would be way too much for me to even consider running an S3.

63miles a day mainly M1 with some driving in the outskirts of London at the end and some countryside nearer home.
The guys above have covered mpg, tyres and you've mentioned your insurance costs (which are a tad more than my <£300 / yr).
Also factor in the increased VED if it's new / over £40k.

Ive done 20K in the year I owned my S3, it was planned, that's a mostly M/way in the week, I see up to 38 - 40mpg if I sit below 70mph, Usial MPG is 32-34 mpg. I probably use roughly 50 60 a week in V power.
Servicing is 20K but do it every other 10K myself, tyre about 20 - 25K at £100 each

I might be able to help, I had my S3 just over a year and done about 15k miles in it. A rough split would be 80% motorway/single carriageway and 20% town driving. My long term average MPG was 33mpg, however this was for a FL S3 not a PFL (which I believe based on your other post is what you're looking at), The FL has a 7th gear which helps boost the MPG, PFL has only 6 gears so would say MPG would be about 28ish as a rough estimate based on what I got. When purely motorway driving I'd be seeing average MPG of 39-43mpg which I found impressive for a performance car.
Tyres, I never needed to change, I kerbed my front after 2 weeks of owning the car, so had brand new tyres on front. So front had done 15k miles and had around 5mm left, rears were on 23k miles and had about 3mm left. Servicing was free on my car but local independent would have done full service for around £150ish.
My annual tax was £140 (as was below £40k list price) and my insurance was around £1,600 (age of 20 + 2 yrs NCB). Feel free to drop me a PM with any further Q's

18" tyres are only a couple of quid more than 17", insurance, not a fortune, servicing - Audi sting you but not much more than anything else. If you can stomach paying a petrol bill of £3500 a year, mainly for commuting, then you have your answer.
Also consider Servicing at a specialist. I have spend a fortune getting every thing done at Audi, now the car has hit 44K I decided to use Jabbasport and the price was half (Genuine parts) and much better experience.

My fl S3 is far more expensive to run than my previous S3, fuel consumption difference is nominal between both......18" tyres are cheap as is the road tax...."but to ask this question" in the first place l would say it's a big no for you to drive a S3 with the estimated mileage your planning to do mate
OK. A little bit further than mine (44 miles a day). I reduce my commuting miles (therefore running costs) by jumping on a bike, whether doing it part way or just the whole way. Not sure if thats something which interests you but worth thinking about if you want to reduce your annual miles.
As already said above the S3 can be a very cheaper daily driver ... depending on your driving style.

Normally around £140 ish if im not driving to spiritedly! Hey thats what s3's are for, I have no doubt the stage 1 may have had an affect on the MPG. Normally get 17-23 mpg on most trips. I do have the pop & bangs map too so i often change gear down when i probably shouldn't

Tyres dont wear to well either I must say, especially the stock pirellis. They look really good on the car with the rubber lip (AO1 variant i think). Replaced them with a new set as I love the look of them so much!

Where the hell do you live to be able to drive with a long term average of 19mpg lol. I only get <20 when really giving it some but there's not enough roads near me, or roads with not many cars on to be able to do that..
