John, I can thoroughly reccomend Tim @ http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/

I've used them from day one, never had a problem.

The sponsors here on the AS.net site, PolishedBliss, are a great bunch too (with some top products)

Ming Blue, hmm.. Contact me via PM chap.. I had a Ming A3 1.8T Sport - I'll send you some photos & info across, see what you think.

Just a few snaps for now..

I'm hopeful to get some product info across later.

I have a Ming Blue 2001 S3. When i got the car it was in less than an ideal state to be honest with you. It lacked lustre and depth from the paint and had some nasty swirl marks which stuck out like a sore thumb, reflecting the light badly it made the car look dull & un-interesting.

Heres what i did to satisy myself until the summer comes again so that i can give the car a "full" workover.

1. Purchased a rotary polisher. Italian job which is supposed to be very very very good, known by very few but used by professionals. Felisatti is the name of it, not sure on the model number, very hard to come by too. It's truely an awesome bit of kit. I compared mine to various others available and for me it came out trumps @ £200 just about it wasn't cheap but the results are awesome and it's easy to use with easy start and variable speed.

2. Purchased some Menzerna cutting polishes to take out the swirl marks left by numerous nasty wash methods by previous lady owner. Used various cutting pads and polishing pads during the proccess.

Products used :-
Menzerna Power Gloss (s34a)
Menzerna Final Finish (p0106fa)
Tried out some 3M final stage polish to get some extra shine to the paint.

3. Applied a paint sealer in the form of collinite 476s. Excellent stuff @ £15 or there abouts. Lasts months and will give you a water bead like nothing else!

4. Applied Zaino Z8 to give it an even more wet look and believe me the difference from before and after was totally unreal. I was so happy with the end result i just couldn't believe what i was seeing.

I'm really happy with my car now and it's "my clean" if you see what i'm saying. Each person has their own idea of what clean is, it's down to that person as to how far to take it when cleaning a car.

I'd recommed http://www.detailingworld.co.uk for all your car cleaning/detailing needs. Very nice place and even nicer people.

Let me know if you need any advice but i'm sure you'll get on just fine, it's a steep learning curve with the use of polishers and using them properly with all the different types of pads available and also all the types of polishes/compounds/waxes/sealants etc but once you have your "routine" your car can be so much better!

Thanks for the reply all, im going to get my service out the way next week (its the big one:crying:), then in a few weeks get my car detailed, and then buy my own products from PB, to keep on top of it, At least if i get a full detail i have a good base to keep clean, overall its quite tidy but the paint has a few swirls which bugs me, cheers all:thumbsup:

And my 6-year-old, after a fine-cut machine polish last weekend to get rid of bodyshop buffer trails and a dealership's sponge-washing of 2 weeks of grime into my paint!

Cleansed with panel-wipe degreaser before an application of Zaino Z2 pro:

It's a very underrated colour IMO. As long as you spend the time on good surface prep via clay, a good cleanser, then finish with some nice protection you will get a lot out of it really. Some excellent products listed by Richard there. Take your time and you will get the best from them.

Good luck

John, those pictures are absolutely outstanding... some of the best I have seen in a long, long time. Your photography skills are now a match for your detailing skills - a joy to see mate, well done. :icon_thumright:

What products did you use to get such a lovely finish?
