anyone had any issues with insurance and splitters or side skirts

my ordered S3 arrives in 3 weeks and i have been shopping around for insurance

had some cracking deals under £400 but as soon as i mention modified with possible maxton spiltter and side skirts to be fitted the insurance giants refuse to quote and the smaller companies want nearly double

ive already purchased the splitter and side skirts so these may be up for sale, might have to put the rs3 grill on hold also

regards

Over 2k to renew for me next month :(

Ridiculous considering I’ve had the car for over two years. I bought it when I was 20 and had gotten amazing prices for my age at that time. Now it seems to be only going up.

No issues for me when I had my S3 or my current S5! Although as others have said, companies like brentacre specialise in modified cars, my quote with them was higher then my current insurance but if I had plenty of mods and remapped then their quote becomes very competitive

Mine was less than this, but was cheaper for me to switch and insure my S5 (somehow). Can only imagine the amount of S3s that are stolen and subsequently written off.

I imagined that would be the reason too. I am looking to switch to a newer car next year. Quite fancy the S5, seems like a lovely car.

Hi.
If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel free to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

I'm with Admiral but only external mod I have is carbon fibre mirror caps, they seemed fine with that (got res delete and RS3 style carbon fibre inlays as well as Audi Sound System retrofit by @DJAlix internally) and only charged me admin fee when I added them mid-term, renewed recently and price was reasonable - £1,000 for both my cars

fyi..

if you're finding prices on comparison sites, calling the companies directly will almost always give you a lower price if you say you're getting quoted cheaper elsewhere(even if you aren't).

Yes I will try this. Any companies that you recommend?

Some insurance companies might want to see proof of cheaper quotes that you get especially the excess what you may be paying

I was surprised to find out that they didnt bother asking me for proof.

Saved about £300 by just saying i was getting a cheaper quote elsewhere.

Chris Knott insurance?
They covered her chipped B5 a few years back and currently cover the S3 (4 door) at a very reasonable cost - no mods -- but do have max NCB.
