Hi, this is the first audi i have ever owned, 60 plate s3 black edition 104k with fash. I have owned impreza's, evo's, focus st, etc etc.

Only had it 3 days and it is really hard to get it into first gear, getting on my nerves i really want to get into this car and enjoy it, love the engine and looks great. Every other gear works fine (including reverse)

Any advise would be great. Gear stick feels sloppy as in has alot of movement from side to side when in gear. Gear box oil change? Selector? Car has 6 months gold warranty,

Did you purchase from a dealer or private? If it’s from a dealer take it back to them - could be the selectors need resetting or something more ominous butnits their responsibility for the next 6 months (don’t let them push you onto the warranty company)

If private, contact Warranty and see what their process is - typically you need a VAT registered business to diagnose and contact them. Take it to a specialise rather than a standard mechanic - you have QST in West Sussex, AMD in Essex or VRT in Slough.

My selector is pretty sloppy left/right too. Reverse is a female dog to get out of, but that’s due to the aftermarket clutch!

Just a quick check you can do before thinking your gearbox might need work.
How do the gears feels without the engine running, but still using the clutch as normal, can you select 1st ok?
If you still have the same issue then it is possibly gear selectors (bushing /joints)or something in the box.
Ive even had the oil in the box cause poor and difficult selector issues.

Diagnosing if it's the clutch at fault.

Selecting 1st gear is still hard when car is turned off, if i put it into second then try again it goes in

Fingers crossed..... yes it sounds like linkage or selector mechanism related problem.
