Facelift S3 Cooling Fans Running after engine switched off

Is it normal for the cooling fans to be running when you've been driving the car normally? It's done this last couple of times i've driven the car. I know it does it when i've been pushing it hard but its not done it after just driving it normally

It's like it has a DPF!

I get this with mine when have been driving in slow traffic, don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

Mine also does that, totally normal. However I do not know why it does it.

I've heard it is to protect the turbo.

I thought all cars with an electric fan (ie all of them nowadays) do this.

My '97 Volvo S40 did this so it's nothing new. Every Audi I've had has done it since, although none as much as my 2.0 TDI A4 ;-)
