I've owned my S3 on a 08 plate at stage 2+ for little under a month! I bought it from a dealer with a AA gold warranty and I bought the car with all modifications on it!

While driving home tonight I noticed the exhaust started popping and there was a serious lack of power. I pulled over and went to pull away and the car died. Had to drive it home as was only 5 minutes away and through out the time there was very little boost and a loud air noise coming from the engine even with a induction kit! Went to put it into reverse to get on the drive and it died again and had to rev it hard to get up my very small slope of a drive way. Checked and can't see any pipes off and never heard my exhaust poo so much! Can anyone help as don't want to be screwed over by the garage tomorrow when they say the warranty isn't covered because it's not standard even though that's how I bought the car!

Many things to think about but take a breath and try to get a good nights sleep. Small steps and don't jump too far ahead.
First things first inspect the car in the morning and then speak to the dealer. Hopefully it is not too far away and they are a reputable dealer in offering you a AA gold warranty. And they can inspect it and give you a diagnosis. They may collect it or if you have AA/RAC at home who can take you there for gratis.
If not then you may need to visit a local garage if you cant get there and get their views on what is damaged.
I would imagine it is not necessarily down to the dealer on the warranty. Either things are broken and covered, or they are not.
Obviously < 30 days brings in the sale of goods act but see sentence one.
Let folks know where you are based and you may get some local support from ASN members also. Good luck.

If you're lucky, and the "air noise" is just a boost hose split or popped off, then you should be OK.
The usual one to come of is at the bottom of the engine bay, where you may not be able to see it.

Other things that can do this include sensor issues, and possibly the plastic mount on the top of the HPFP,which can crack, and then sends completely wrong values to the ECU.
Mine did that a few yrs ago.

Most importantly,do NOT drive it until it's been diagnosed,as popping and banging may be down to very lean running if nothing else.
It needs a proper scan by someone who knows what to look for.

Well said guys. Do not panic.

Sounds more of a split / disconnected intercooler hose.

Best of luck

Keep us informed. Search for stuff and ask questions. Hope it looks better this morning.

Thanks for all the replies car is currently in a Audi specialist at the moment so just awaiting a phone call hoping it's just a split breather pipe

Sounds like an intercooler hose... as said by many others. I experienced this last weekend, was driving quite hard uphill.. loud bang, massive shake to my car. plume of black smoke out the back. Stopped in a bus stop rough idle with a different, worrying sound and smell... etc

turns out the intercooler hose has popped right off... Hopefully its that simple for you.

Boost hose.

Happened to me after a remap at Jabbasport 5 years about 10 mins up the road.

Thought I'd blown the engine up.

Have no fear. S3's rule!!

I had the HPFP connector crack on my previous S3. Another poop in pants moment lol

It's such a sneaky problem that....if Shaun at AMD hadn't seen it on another car,it would have been very difficult to find as the crack was tiny.

AA found mine after a lot of head scratching
Like being a car detective.....

In the old days it was all pretty obvious...now you need a laptop, and someone who really knows what they're up to.
