Thanks. Car needs discs and pads all 4 corners which I can do myself. So wanted to replace these at the same time.

I put a set on a Golf R a while back and have lasted ages but as said above, they are not overly expensive from Audi and can be bought in black or red depending on your calliper colour
My callipers stock are red but in the PFL the plate came in black stupidly so when the facelift S3 came out, I bought the red plates however, they say "S" and not "S3"

Yeah simply replace them - I wrapped electrical tape round a screw driver and put a micro fibre cloth against the brake caliper and just pried it off at either end They are £30.71 each with a bit of discount (maybe 3-5%)
