    Hi,

I was wondering when those engines really needed internals upgrade.

For someone installing a big hybrid (TTE525r, LM500), intercooler, turbo intake, hpfp, downpipe, catback, dsg tune, ecu tune, admission kit, reaching maybe 500/550hp and 600 nm torque, where is the limit for internals? (to remain reliable everyday and twice a year, short track sessions)

I saw a thread in which some cars were blown and I wonder what happened, what was the weak link.

    Any input?

    Hi Mark,

I can only speak for the 8P S3,and say that the internals were/are safe for around 440lbs,or 600Nm,but would say that trackdays are a good excuse for uprating as many components as possible.

The advantage of most of the hybrids, that one included is that torque is generally within safe limits and it may be worth you contacting Simon at TTE for further info ( @TTE Si ).

Up rating to a good set of aftermarket internals will give you an engine safe to over 550lbs/750Nm,which is around what mine currently has,as well as ensuring everyday reliability

Thanks, 700nm would be nice! I suppose that everything should be changed to reach that. But all in all, it is still a bargain for the level of performance we get.

    Thanks Alex

Saw that too! But I am not sure it would survive -as is- a spirited trip in the French Alps (select any engine unfriendly location here) though..

All comes down to torque, not outright bhp.

That's where the hybrid route tends to score in terms of not needing full builds to avoid bending rods, which we know are pretty good on the S3,but if you fancy over 500lbs of torque, then you'd be chancing it a bit on stock internals.

Can some1 confirm that E113 2.0 TFSI engine (BWA code) have forged internals like in CUPRA 2007 and above?
