Hello guys,

This is my first post on the forum. I have been an active reader of this forum for quite some time, found plenty of helpful info on here thanks to you guys.

I seem to have a problem that was probably caused by the newly fitted Revo intake. The car is 2009 S3 Sportback, MTM tuned. Three days ago I have replaced the stock intake with Revo intake. The car was driving perfectly fine for few hours the first day, then all of a sudden it lost boost. Took it to the mechanic next day to check everything. Replaced the DV as the possible cause, after that drove for a day and a half on full boost, and the same thing happened, car lost boost again.

No leaks have been found, all of the valves seem to work fine, engine works perfectly, however there seems to be a huge loss in boost.

Can anyone tell me what could be the likely cause? Should I go for a remap?

Thanks in Advance

I had simular from standard, no mods, changed air flow sensor and crank sensor to find out the boost pipe was well off when I found the issue, daft but simple, worth checking...

Either the MAF is ****** or your map is not liking the extra air and is causing limp mode. Is the MTM an ECU remap or a box?

Thanks for your response. I am quite sure it is just a remap as I have bought the car with it already installed. MAF has been checked and it works fine.

I have heard of this before after fitting a Revo. On here sone time ago someone else had a similar problem and it was only fixed by refitting the original air box. Some mappers will take account of upgraded hardware and make adjustments to the software being uploaded. When I had my APR stage 1+ I used the standard Airbox but at APR 2+ I have an intake and the mapper said that he chooses the file that makes best use of the hardware on the car.

I'll follow this thread...

I fitted my Revo today and it's not feeling right. Feels like a loss of torque and possibly boost it all pipes are tight - I'll take it for a run tomorrow to test.

Also a lot more quite than I was expecting.

Any updates? I am taking my car in few hours to the mechanic, and I will post an update here.

Not yet sorry - I'll take it out tomorrow and see if there is any change - I'm hoping it's all the head and is running fine...

Hi @m1h4, took the car out and it seems fine - maybe I'm looking for something that isn't there or expecting more. I'll take it for a big run on Friday. It's still a lot quieter than I thought it would be.

Have you had any luck - mines still on std software fwiw.

Cheers

I can't seem to find an exact cause for this. My car was running fine for some time as well and after that went into limp mode. Taking it soon to a local VAG specialist.

I know it's a ball-ache but is worth putting the standard intake back on as a process of elimination? Maybe see why VAG specialist says.

Update: The problem can only be solved by making a custom map. The error that comes up on VCDS says: system too lean off idle. Seems that the map does not like the extra air coming in and puts the car in limp mode (or limited boost, cause the boost still kicks in sometimes though not as hard as before).

The solution is to put back the original intake or to do a complete remap for the new intake.

Would rather wait for a new downpipe and go Stage 2.
