S2000 air filter fitted - these noises normal?

Fitted my s2000 air filter to my s3 just now and with the bonnet up still the fluttering sound as you dump the throttle is really a lot louder, does it mean my Dv is gone or is it normal to expect increases dv fluttering noise with this filter?

the car boosts well as usual by the way nothing else would suggest any issues.

I didnt think a dv fluttering was a good thing? It will get louder with an open filter though.
Are you using an oem dv

Yeah standard everything except the filter, maybe it's just me. There was no noises before, should I replace the dv incase? From what I gather they aren't too expensive anyway.

Well like i say the dv noise will increase. I think a fluttering oem dv means that its split inside. Search fluttering dv fella.

Could possibly be a split diaphragm on your dv, for the price of a new one it is worth picking one up, if it doesn't solve the problem then keep it as a spare

Here's a video clip of the sound. It only does this when dropping the throttle either stationary or going along. When going through the gears it doesn't do it - just a pshhh sound.

Does it sound like my dv is gone or is that normal? It has always made this sound under the conditions explained above only now I've changed to a s2000 filter it's much louder and more noticeable. I have also recently done the n249 delete with 4mm ID silicon pipe as per the How To sticky on here. All pipes secure but could a kink in one cause this? Will check tomorrow.

I think there's definitely something wrong there, it shouldn't be chattering! This is what mine sounds like with a Badger5 v3 TIP & JR Filter, and its a Forge 007p Valve, N248 Removed, Also have the bonnet sound deadening removed.

Will, Mine made that flutter sound as soon as i fitted the s2000 filter. I changed the dump valve last weekend (£30 from trade parts specialist) and it now makes a nice clean whoosh noise. The dv was definitely fried before. I'd suggest you change it. Easiest job in the world to swap.

either needs a new DV, or the vac line to the DV is kinked.

It will almost certainly have been like that before, but the stock airbox stops you from hearing the obvious sound.

As a bonus, with a fresh DV, you should get a bit more power and better fuel economy I know I did when I first changed a broken DV about 7 years ago!

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated! I'll check the lines first but I'll try and get a new dv today for the sake of £30. Need to buy a cam cover gasket set anyway so will phone audi.

You wouldn't happen to have the part number for the dv, anyone?

Been quoted £53.72 by audi for a new dv. He said he had two on the system. Does the dv have a multiplug on the side of it? Or is that the n75 he's quoted me for? Because I thought the dv was a simple inlet outlet to 90 degrees of one another - no multi plug or electronics on it ...?

£50 is about what i paid for the N75 on mine.....id certainly question that. There's no plug on a DV to my knowledge!

You are correct- there are no electrics on the OEM DV for out car and it is practically an inlet and outlet 90 degress from one another.

Do you not have a TPS that will sell to you?
