S Line Tyre sizes

I have just bought a 2010 A6 Avant S-Line and its running 255 tyres all round which seems huge given its just a 2.0 TDI 170 and FWD. Is this the standard tyre size?

I bought mine 2010 a6 after only one owner who kept FASH. Before I bought it, he had 4 brand new Continental's fitted on and they all were 255's fitted by Audi dealership.
Doubt they would've asked him, if he wants something bigger or smaller, if recommended tyre size was different.

If you have an S Line Le Mans with 19" wheels, then 255 is the correct width.
You should have a sticker on the drivers B pillar which gives tyre sizes and pressures.

Understood. Does the non Le-mans S-line run a smaller size or the same?

Mine is on 245/40 x 18s.

Yes, S Line Avant 2.7 TDI.
The tyre size is not defined by engine size though, just trim level.
