I looked at the Twin exhausts really closely on my 1st RSQ3 - bottom line is that you'll have to route the new pipe very close to the battery box - which contains an expensive beasty to replace.

Another member here pointed out that so many cars have twin pipes that the 'special feature' of all Audi RS models prior and since is somewhat diluted and that having the single huge oval is actually in keeping with the vehicle's unconventional nature - I get that. Instead - spend the dosh on a Cete exhaust valve controller?

Do these valve controllers actually make that much of a difference? I’ve been looking at the special exhausts one.. I don’t think I’ll need one soon though as already stated, I have the middle resonator cut out and am soon to have secondary cat deletes.

Make a big difference. In the stock car the tail-pipe valve opens briefly on Start-up (the 'bark' noise you hear) and is open when in Sport mode - which as we already know isn't really needed because in normal D mode it's already brutally quick.

With the AVC you can have the valve open at will - so that's probably most of time when travelling alone - with a passenger on long motorway runs I'll typically select 'Comfort' in DS and the valve shuts (will open automatically over 5,000 RPM anyway) as the exhaust tone pitch can be a little wearing. Perfect.

So have you coded the mirrors now? Dynamic Steering recommendation - seems to offer a variable effort steering function...haven't tried it yet... if it aint broke don't fix it thinking has prevailed...

Does anyone know what the special exhausts one is like? As I don’t fancy spending as much as what the Cete one is available for.

Booked my RS in to a exhaust specialist Ive used before , Ill have 2 6 1\2" back pipes, 1 with a heat shield @ battery , Hope fully no difference to sound as Im ok with that. I just want twin pipes out the back, The last time I was thinking about buying a RSQ3 the one pipe put me of , And I got a AMG GLA 17 plate, not good for me, So now Im getting mine as I want it,

Where have you booked it in chap? I’m looking to have mine done too and had a quote from Keltec performance in Leeds who have done another RSQ3 before. Been quoted £1000. But that’s for a proper full cat back system with secondary decats deleted too.

You not going for a cat back? I can’t help but thinking the RSQ3 is so quiet standard it’s actually annoying me a bit. Sooner I can change things the better.

To low, front wheels crab on semi lock, Thought the wheels where coming off, very hard ride, fast little thing, But my RS seems faster, And does it nicer too. Inside the merc 10 out of 10 , Ive been a Audi man for years so may be a bit bias , Tax expensive too.

    Thanks for your reply.
I'm an Audi nut too, as is the wife.
The GLA45 in the right colour and spec looks the nuts but isn't really an SUV and you only get to truly find out what a car is like once you live and breath one so I value your input.
I'm smitten with my SQ5 but I was sorely tempted to take a trip up to Harrogate Audi today as they have a mega low mileage RSQ3 performance just in......don't tell the wife though

Last RSQ3 I enquired about up there, I spoke with them over the phone and they never got back to me after promising to the next morning as it was just before closing time.
I'd love to buy it but I'm 9 months into the SQ5 and I'd get crucified on the deal.....by the dealer and the missus lol

    It sounds a beauty.
I think it's a case of right car just the wrong time for me unfortunately. Heart says "go look at it" while the head says "don't be a plonker again" lol
My SQ5 is fantastic too....its just not an RS and I need to go down that route at some point, whether it be an RSQ3 or an 8P RS3

Having had two diesel SQ5s myself and driven the 354PS petrol version myself they are not in the same league as an RSQ3. Even the latest B9 RS4, isn't up there either. An RSQ3 is quicker, real world properly rapid - instant bonkers performance that doesn't require Sport mode at all - in fact I rarely use it. At the other end of very quick is the ability to shed the pace and stop - SQ5 stoppers are just about OK but press on and the weight of the vehicle and heat takes the edge of them quickly - sprinting between the roundabouts at legal speeds in Milton Keynes has a particular memory for me - 5th island..yikes! The RSQ3's brakes on the other hand, massive wavy discs, and 8 pot calipers, totally capable - no fade.

The RSQ3 isn't perfect though - take excessive liberties with it and the amazing performance could fling the vehicle off the road in an instant - it would happily enable you to collect a Darwin Award.

More modern Audi vehicles (The RS4 was a good example) have technology that is designed to keep the car on the road and free from colliding with stuff. I find this tech fundamentally annoying - it detracts from the driving experience and now I'm at a point where I won't buy a car with any of it (unless it can be permanently disabled). I suspect that the new RSQ3/SB when it appears will have all the annoying tech as standard.

Right now, doing less miles, I'm hoping the RS will be the last IC engine car I'll own and what a way to go.
