Haha...... think this will be the quickest I've ever bought a car that needs to go back into the stealership!

Less than 24 hours, driving home and this appears!

20201029 114449
20201029 114426

Its booked in for next week.
From what I've read online it appears to be an aerial issue, either loose connection which is a quick fix or entire dash needs to come out!

It would also explain perhaps whilst using maps I was driving on the motorway and my location was in the field next to it!? Next minute I'm being asked to do a u-turn on the motorway and turn left at the next T-Junction!

Lol.... have to laugh, at least it doesn't stop me driving even if annoying.
The irony though is the song on was called "it just happens"

Ignore it - it's not a fault, has been reported on other forums too. It's suspected that for some reason the in-car SIM loses contact with the Audi server and throws that message...

If that was the case then surely it would go away when it reconnects?

I cant ignore it, it’s bright that error and annoying.... plus it doesn’t go away.
Also in the trip computer it takes over the left side of the display where other functions would normally show so it defo needs resolving.

Not sure if the GPS issue is related or not so needs to go in regardless.

just been reading through others, a few have said the whole module needed replacing to solve this issue.

Does it reappear after a re-start?
Yes, its permanent.

When it happened I did pull over and turn it all off and back on. Even stopped at service stations on the way home and been back out in the car since after being off for some hours and still there.

But all is not lost - one of the best cars my wife had didnt make it back from the collection journey (all of 4 miles) and had to be recovered when the clutch pedal (remember those...) failed to return from the floor when pressed.... So I turned up at home in a courtesy car (the dealer principles very smart much better model!) but collected 3 days later and never put another foot wrong in 3 years.

Keep the faith - for now!

Thanks!
I’m not too bothered, whilst it’s annoying it’s exactly why warranty is there.

Funny thing is, this morning it’s gone! Thankfully have pictures as I know something intermittent will raise its head again so it’s still going into Audi regardless.

Lol, I broke my SQ5 on the test drive. Pushed the seat massage button into the seat, still bought it, but it was booked in before I collected it. COVID meant they could not get the bit needed quick enough to fix it before I collected it.

haha.... beats me then!

Mine flashed up again today then disappeared, going in Tuesday so hope they resolve pre lockdown!

Let’s hope you get it sorted on Tuesday. What is the warning light between the clock and temperature at the bottom is that linked to the problem?

Yes that’s right, the yellow warnings relate to the SOS plus a high pitch warning tone on startup everytime.

On a plus though, drove to Ikea for some bits, loads of room and such a fun car to drive! It really is a beast, can’t wait to play more on non motorway journeys.

The new Audis seem to be full of mainly pointless tech. One reason we didn’t like our Q3 Vorsprung 45 Sportback

Latest:
Audi advised the technician was aware of the issue so didn’t need to see pictures or anything (as error not showing now). Received a call to say a new module is required and they had 1 in stock - bonus!
Later received a call to say they hadn’t finished coding so will finish tomorrow, but they also need my spare key as this will need coding also! Apparently 40 minute wait so will just have to sit it out.

Hopefully by tomorrow all sorted!

Sounds like a result!

There’s another warning light too though between the time and temp gauge what is that?

That’s the Audi pre sense, before ignition is on, hence it being white.... if yellow then an issue.

As per the manual, when white:
— It has only been several seconds since the ignition was switched on The white indicator light turns on.

Got the car back after they replaced the module and they confirmed this was a known issue and the reason my sat nav was not calibrated either, so replacing this module has fixed both the GPS calibration and SOS fault.

Well since Audi have replaced my module and recoded the keys I can longer set myself as a key user as the 10 digit code no longer works, always errors instantly. So no app, no key user.
Called the dealer, they’ve got no idea and pointed me to Audi UK.
Called Audi UK, spoke to a ‘specialist’ and he is unsure..... been waiting on an email update since last week, rather frustrating!

Given I havent got my app to work with my fault free car, dont feel too hard done too yet... I did notice when I was trying to connect that my A6 as on the app as a previous car but my SQ5 wasnt - I clearly decided that, having experienced it with the A6, I didnt need it with the SQ5.

I Love the car but the tech is a bit **** compared to idrive....

Yup, been there on the B9 RS4. Delete the 'Key User' in the car. Wait 12 hours, i.e. overnight so the Audi system in Germany is updated and then set it up again using the 10 digit tag number. Your car, is 'always on' from an internet connectivity standpoint using the integrated SIM.

For what it's worth I do like the MyAudi app as it displays the last known location of the car on Google maps plus the service requirements/what's been done.

Strangely, having done nothing, and still logged in..... the car now shows my name as the key user! App still wouldn’t work, just deleted and reinstalled it and all working as it should be. Looks like the servers finally caught up and the phone was just an app issue! Either way, glad all sorted.

Even if just to check it’s all locked, still handy! Left it unlocked twice now lol.....
