Is there a way of making my 08 a3 with the RSN-E sat nav play music from my phone using bluetooth without spending £300 on it??

Yep, get a Tune2Air Bluetooth dongle.

If you have the Audi MMI Inteface then you’ll need the WMA3000. If you have iPhone 30pin then you’ll need the WMA1000 which is a little older and a little more ££ but both under £300
Unfortunately the only thingBluetooth the RNS-E plays is the mobile connection but only if you have the phone BT kit

i had one connected to my rns-e via the cd changer port/connection when i was using rns-e. after pairing, just put the unit on cd to play from my phone. think it worked with mfsw too, but not sure as replaced rns-e almost immediately.
