RS4 vs S3 Sedan

I know this isn't on your list but, have you test driven an S4? I think it sits quite nicely between the RS4 and S3 and is a bit of an car that folk forget about. I'll be looking at an Avant to possibly replace S3 we have. Stage 1 chipped and it will probably give the RS a run for its money.

I'd suggest you go & Testdrive an RS4 B7 & New S3 Saloon again & see which Driving Experience you prefer mate.

They both have their Pro's & Con's & are both great Cars!

As for the Performance Debait, obviously there isn't much between them as Standard & I know for a very small amount of money, you can make the S3 noticeably Faster than the RS4, but that is'nt what its about..........its about the Lumpy V8 giving you a real Buzz to Drive!
On the Engine side of things, it kind of reminds me on the Golf R32 vs Golf R & Focus RS 5pot vs the up & coming New Focus RS 4pot Debait!
The Newer versions maybe Quicker & more Economical, but the Bigger Lumpier Engines with a great Exhaust note gave a much more Driving Experience!

Not sure what your budget is verttigo but B8 RS4 is very affordable at the moment on the monthlys compared to the S3.

Hence the lively discussion :)
 
The RS4 B8 is an amazing Car & from the 12months I had mine, I can honestly say it was leagues better than the RS4 B7 Saloon & Avant that I had! The fact that they only do it an an S-Tronic may put some people off though if there Die-Hard Manual fans!

The RS4 B8 maybe Affordable with the Audi Deals they have around at the moment...........I guess that's if you like their PCP scheme though??
Going by the fact that you've been looking at the older RS4 B7, I'm thinking you'd prefer to Buy it properly & have full Equity in your Car? They've pretty much lost all the money there going to lose now too, which also helps!
 
Yes, the UK PCP scheme is very attractive at the moment, with large manufacturer contributions and dealer discounts available on the B8 at the moment.

I've been doing "man maths" all afternoon - I think I can stretch to it! Sure you can too BH - ASN pay good £££ no? :drag:

I saw a Suzuka RS4 at my local dealership and it led me to change my order for the RS5 from Sepang.
V spoke alloys?

If the B8 RS4 was offered in a saloon version I would be all over it like a rash! Estates have no appeal to me (must be because I'm only 21, lol) in any way and as much as I love the RS4, I just couldn't cope with the size of it. Admittedly, the RS4 Avant is the best looking estate I have ever seen - RS6 aside.

Things change when you hit 30 - but I totally agree at your age you have different tastes !

The RS4 is actually very petite looks wise. Saloon would have been great and I would probably prefer that too if available :)

I guess its just down to Personal Taste!

Personally, I've always thought the RS4 & the RS6 in 'Avant' form had more of a Presence on the road, than the Saloon versions.
For quite a number of years, the Estate has been the Cooler & more Popular option, but since the recent Shots of Audi's A3 Clubsport Saloon & them Releasing the S3 Sedan, there's suddenly an Injection of Intrest in Sporty Saloons again!

Its hard to say on whether a Saloon version of the RS4 B8 would have looked better than the Avant version............going by the S4 B8, the Avant looks alot better than the Saloon!! For some reason, the Saloon looks more Standard & Discreet!

After Eliminating a few Cars off my List(Golf R, A45 AMG & a couple of 4x4's), the S4 Avant was the only other Car I was looking at, against the S3 Saloon & it took me a good few weeks to decide!

Actually ( @ Pulp84 ), one of my mates has the RS4 Avant and I was pleasantly surprised at how small it actually is in the flesh, but it's still a little too big for my liking right now... still a beast tho ;).

Are you getting the S3 Saloon?! If there is an RS3 Saloon (seems to be rumours there will be) then I'd strongly consider it. The Clubsport is quite simply the dream IMO :). You're right in regards to the heightened interest for sport saloons - they're certainly grabbing the attention these days.
 
Meh. Sports Saloons. Been there, done that :p

I had a MG-ZS back in the day, and that was one of the best handling FWD cars in its day, and will still show up many other "modern" cars ;)

I ended up settling on a New S3 Saloon CCWS3, as it felt more Modern than the S4.

I'd seriously consider a New RS3 if Audi bring out a Saloon version. I think the Demand is there for one & I think it would end up looking more Special than the Sportback!

Good man!!! You think you made the right choice? I personally love my S3 and would only consider the RS3 over it (or the RS5). What colour did you opt for?

Totally onboard with that, mate! They probably know fine well that it's stupid not to release the Saloon given the interest in the S3 and non-release of a B8 RS4 Saloon.
 
When I first saw Photos of the New S3 Saloon & then saw one at an Audi Dealership, when it was initially Released, I thought it looked great, but to be honest, I never had any Intensions of Buying one, as I had an RS4 B8 Avant at the time!

Unfortunately, my Circumstances changed, as my RS4 B8 was Stolen, making me have abit of a Re-think & look at slightly smaller Cars that could just squeeze into my Garage........another reason why I opted for an S3 Saloon over the S4 Avant!
My S3 Saloon is in Monsoon Grey & I have to say that I'm very happy with it. It doesn't really feel much Slower than the RS4, it has a Sporty Presence on the road, its half the Roadtax of the RS4, noticeably better on Fuel & it can be locked away!
The Engine obviously doesn't give me the Buzz of the V8, but its still fun to Drive. If it had the 5Cyl Engine, it would have been the Ultimate Car to me though!
My RS4 had great Interior, but everytime I see one now, it surprisingly looks abit Dated to the Interior/Dash on the New S3!!
Audi always cleverly do this though!

I love the look of the sedan. Back in the day, I had so many different sports cars. For me my A3 Saloon is a perfect ride. Great cruising around town. But also has the speed when needed. Inside is very comfortable
and has everything I wanted. I love this sedan and will stay with this
type of car. :)
