RS3 Saloon with Forged R8 Wheels Pics

After 6 months of searching for 4 individual front wheels from an Audi R8 I finally got around to having them refinished and fitted.

4 x 19 x 8,5J ET42 with PSS4S 255/30/19 Square

Costs:

Approx. £1350 for the wheels
£300 refinishing
£200 4 x new TPMS
£840 4 x PSS4S

Also included a pic of the PSS4S 255 vs stock PZero 255 and 235 tyres. So much wider that it is like having 4 x 275 section PZero's. Grip is crazy.

Stock height (mag ride) and zero rubbing or knocks, and I have really tried. The only downside is you hear a lot more stones hitting the inside rear arches. Although the wheels only have an additional 1mm of offset than the stock front 8.5J ET43 (for those with wider fronts) the PSS4S tyres fill out the arches so much better.

Are you having any issues with traction control? Quite a few people were having issues with PSS4S and the staggered set up - I wonder if having 255/30/19 square setup solves that?

I have EXACTLY the same TC issues now that I had with the staggered PZeros. Hesitating out of junctions, pulling back the power until all 4 wheels hook up etc. It is also the same with my 235 square winter tyre setup.

The issue is not tyres even though there are reports of such with PSS's. I am 99.9% convinced the issue lies in a combination of over sensitive TC software and slack in the 4WD system, commonly found with Haldex systems. Once all 4 tyres hook up there isn't an issue but the TC software see's "slip" during the time it takes the system the engage all 4 wheels fully. For me this is evident with the TC off. Hard acceleration starts with a very brief but discernible amount of slip followed by huge grip.

Audi torsen AWD systems have less slip/hook up time so those cars fair better with sensitive TC software.

I thought the TC was horrendous even when my car was stock, it pulled back the power all the time I found it massively intrusive.

If anyone has a map then it’s even worse, you can’t drive it with it switched on, you’d think it was stock. Every time I get in the car it’s 5 presses of the Drive Select button for Dynamic and traction once, different car altogether. It will spin up in 3rd in the wet though

Yep, the only resolution although I like to use cruise control so it can be a PITA.
