Hi guys, ive pretty much finished my facelift Rs3 Replica but have a little problem with DRL headlights, i understand they will need coding but my problem is that when i turn my lights on they only stay on for a few minutes then knock off, i have to turn switch off then back on to reactivate, and again this only lasts for several minutes, sometimes they come back on by themselves or flicker like a police car which was quite funny this evening whilst driving home. any ideas if this is anything more than just a coding issue? i thought maybe something to do with ballast units etc? not holding charge? not sure how they actually work so please excuse me if that sound silly? thanks for any info in advance..

If your not willing to help please don't comment, I like the looks of an rs3 but would I pay 40k for one? No chance

anyway in answer to your question
i have never fitted them to a A3
but when it done them on the A4 iv had to code them to make them work right
oh and stick a few pics up.

That's pretty poor.
dont you think theres some pretty poor members joining
just cos they have a 40k car they put the man in the street down that just wants the looks with out the price tag ?
look at all the s3 rs4 s4 reps around i say let them do there own thing and not slate them.

RS3 looks without RS3 running costs sounds good to me. Who wants to put £10 of VPower in to run to Tesco for bog roll anyways??? :)

Thanks for your support guys, I've put a lot of time and money into my car although its based on a 170 Tdi it suits me fine as an every day run around as I could never afford to run the real deal every day. There's always one out there to judge others,
The car is in for paint next week so will try to get some pics uploaded although I have a few here I could put on before hand??

Yes, I do (although I'm fairly new myself).

Lots of people dislike replica cars, especially if they own the car that's being replicated.

I'm cool with it to be honest, I think it's great to see people "making" the car of their dreams, that they otherwise couldn't afford.

yeah stick em up

Almost every 8P1 on here has been facelifted....or sline / s3 facelifted.
Doing an RS3 is much the same idea, doesnt deserve slating.

Not something id do (RS3 on a Tdi), but if we all done the same thing, would be a very boring forum!

Firstly without correct coding the car won't work properly so expect things to go wrong. Get the coding sorted out and then see what issues you have.
Where abouts are you? And I wana see pics :)

Alot of childish hating going on.....no need for it.

I'm all for reps if you decide not to or dont have the cash to pay large sums for a genuine article. Only if it is done correctly mind.

The guy asked for help, very politely and doesnt deserve people replying with arsey comments.

I would also like to see some pictures 'Shades_RS.' Takes alot of time and dedication to transform a car into what you want.

Robbiemac- I am sure you have your own opinion, but keep it to yourself if you have nothing good to say.

sorry i should have made that clear that i wanted to see 'Shades_RS' car! not looking for stupid responses!
and no i wont trust you... i dont know of you and dont care for your opinon!

on another note here is a thread of a good friend that did the RS3 conversion on his 1.9 TDI!

diesel RS3's ha ha ha ha ha haha ha.............. now that's funny. You're mate's seats look like they've been made out of puffa jackets:laugh: sorry for laughing but diesel! You'd die with shame, it's worse than the 'M' badged 318d BMW brigade.
Audi should take legal action against yer mate....... ha ha ha ha ha ha

Congrats on having an RS3 pal... shame you cant use your money to buy yourself some tact and common courtesy.

This forum doesn't need your childish tunnel vision comments. At the end of the day its only body styling. Speed limits don't change if you get a car with more horsepower...

hey chill out.....diesel RS3 ...... surely you find that funny cheeez, cheer up it's Friday

Guys, let's try and keep it constructive please.

Robbiemac - I've removed one of your posts which would only serve to enflame the situation.

Mate, your not doing yourself any favours, and are proper mugging yourself off!!
If you ain't got nothing decent to say, then don't say nothing at all.

If the fella wants to convert his "diesel" to an RS3, then I say good luck to him. He will most likely have more satisfaction at the end of it than a rich tart like you who just goes out and buys it.

Not everyone in this world has the money to buy the things they want.

Hi guys, as per comments the reason I wanted a diesel was due to the obvious cheaper every day running costs, and the decision to do the RS3 conversion using all genuine panels was down to its good looks, so I'm happy all round especially after having the car re-mapped yesterday. And before the odd sado replies, I'm not a boy racer into kits and over excited at the fact the car is over 200bhp as I've had plenty of performance cars in the past inc an old time retro classic "Rs500" which I'm sure someone will also slate on here.
back onto the subject I have one or two pics here as the car stands before paint, you will prob notice that there's no side skirts fitted as yet but I do have them and the tops of wings need to be aligned with bonnet properly, but overall a perfect fit all round. Will be removing the DPF this afternoon.

A genuine RS500?... I for one would never slate one of those, having had a 440bhp Sierra Cosworth and an ex GpN Escort Cosworth...the RS500 was a wonderful, hairy old brute of a car.
I hope you enjoyed it properly!

Yes a real rs500 #14, I went down the ford route at an early age having a series 1 Rs turbo shortly after passing my test, then followed a 2wd and a 4x4 saph cosworth then a mint low miler escort cosworth, then turned to BMW m3's a genuine E30, then E36 and a E46, can't quite afford the latest M3 though lol.. Although I'm Audi all the way now over recent years, No genuine Audi Rs yet though ;-)

Great cars and real fun to drive.
I loved both of mine, even though the Escort cost a fortune to keep on the road.

Here's the link to a few pics of the Escort. S3Alex's Album: Old car.....

Love the way it's coming along! Personally I don't like the rs3 front bumper with its big air intakes and everything else is pretty much the same as the s3 but still really nice and good effort!
You need to get some nice finished pics up though.

sounds like you have had a nice history of crazy cars, I loved the old Sierra cosworths... Still see one here n there bombing it down the m1

Shades, the car is looking good fella.

I am a bit confused on one thing, you had it re-mapped yesterday and are having the DPF removec today?? Surely you would if had the DPF removed first and then re-mapped, as the sensors will need to be mapped out, plus mapping a DPF'd car will be different to mapping a car without a DPF.

dont forget the wider carbon fibre front wings, rear spoiler and diffuser!! Lol.. Cheers buddy, it should be nice when finished, just need some buckets as I have s-line interior at the moment. But as far as front bumper goes they don't look that much apart like u said that's why I would never spend 40k on a genuine RS3 👍
