Saloon RS3 colour choice

I do chuckle when I see people online try to say the Ceramic is the next best thing to PPF, it’s a long term hard wax.

Well I have no stone chips and you know what the chap used.

I think you might have just been lucky, but then you’ve had a lot of use too.

Ceramic is such a thin layer compared to clear coat, it’s hard to believe it can stop a stone impacting of speeds up to 100mph. My S3 was ceramic coated, I had a good 8/9 stone chips that were worth noting.

I will add, I stay well, well back from people on the roads for this reason. The majority were on the drivers side, stones being kicked up from opposite traffic and the worst were from gritters passing me.

Yh, I also struggle to believe that a film that's about 0.1 of a micron thick can stop a nasty shaped stone from chipping the paint.

Cars are there to be used. The money some people spend on paint and then protecting it staggers me. @AudiNutta haven't you spend c.£4K just on paint and protecting it?!

Yep exactly haha.

Tbh, regardless of colour I would have probably gotten PPF because I was devastated when the S3 got chips and I could have done something about it.

But yes, the fact it being a bright blue Exclusive colour did swing it. The colour looks amazing in person, well worth it. BUT, in the last week I’ve learnt that the paint is actually a Ford colour (Imperial Blue), which is a bit of a let down.

Thank you! That’s the thing, my car does wear it differently. Google Ford Imperial Blue, it looks absolutely nothing like the Focus ST’ on there, it only looks similar to the Escort Cosworth in some photos. It looks totally different in the photos I have.

My Mum pulled up next to a dark blue Fiesta a few months ago and said “you’ve ordered a car in a colour like that, it will look like that” and it really put me off. But, the RS3 wears it a million times better than a boggo Fiesta haha, no regrets.. extremely happy!.. just wish it was a Ferrari colour and not Ford

I concur and Voodoo looks great. Although we went option heavy and Riviera Blue
