I mean, fair play to his enthusiasm and the money he’s piled into the car already but I mean… not my cup of tea / a bit cringe. Each to their own

Hey guys,

long time since I've been here but still no RS3... My order got postponed for July this year at best according to my dealer, and nobody can confirm that it will finally be delivered then. Long time since August 2021.

I got a call last week that they received a Sportback nearly identical to my Saloon. The only difference is that it has no adaptive suspension. I could endure that it's not a Saloon but an SB but not so sure about the adaptive suspension part.
I'm curious to hear your opinion, is standard suspension fine? I don't plan on changing the suspension, maybe lowering springs at best.

I don’t know why you aren’t biting their hand off for it after your wait! AS is alright but it isn’t the biggest thing in the world.

I had it on my 8v RS3 but not on my RS4. Didn't miss it.

i have a carbon black saloon with standard suspension and i don’t have a problem with it at all. i had a 7.5 golf R on 19s with adaptive suspension and i don’t notice a huge difference.

Had it on my 8V but don’t have it on 8y. Can’t tell a difference.

Ive just taken delivery of my carbon black RS3. Couldn’t help but notice it has lane assist. I could have sworn this was a vorsprung feature? I spec’d C+S but i also have a FBSW. I thought with that feature you had to have the bus drivers wheel???

The Carbon with C&S comes with lane assist and FBMSW.

You will turn it off every time you start it after the first time it tries to kill you. And it will try!
Set my profile up and have switched it off permanently! Cannot stand the thing!!!

He just posted today with his new catback exhaust system. He has decat downpipe with opf delete. He states that the error lights he gets no more with the catback systrm and his obd reader does not show any opf errors.
Can any1 else confirm this?

Find it hard to believe to be honest. If the sensors don't read right it'll flag up. If they're unplugged it'll flag up. If the pressures are wrong on the OPF sensors it'll flag up. There's no way around it without a very clever simulator I'd imagine, but maybe that's what they have for it.

Also, depending on the OBD reader they don't show all the errors I believe, so the only way to really know would to be connecting it up to the Audi ODIS (sp?) system I imagine.

Comes back on every start up. Only way to disable is code it out.

Incredibly annoying. Will need to look at getting that coded out for sure!

A quick question, liquid PPF, my dealer has mentioned it, thought it’s best part of £3K, does anyone have any feedback, knowledge or even experience? As a comparison what would full PPF cost for an RS3, £4-5K?

Had mine collected today by Xpel_UK for a front end PPF and a full ceramic including wheels. Front end PPF includes bonnet, bumper, front wings and wing mirrors. Costing £2300. That includes transportation fees.

Thank you, I appreciate the information. I’m trying to get them to share some photographs or short video of cars they have actually done, one thing I did read is that you cannot use a pressure washer on the liquid version but you can on PPF film (with care around panel edges). I’ll try some other places for some prices, I wasn’t actually planning on anything more than a coat of wax, so here we go again.

I personally have never heard of a so called liquid PPF. Ive seen cars with a physical PPF and ceramic in person and the results are excellent.
Worth considering, if you go PPF then consider the ceramic on top. The plastic film holds almost static and it actually gathers road dust and grime quite quickly. The ceramic aids to prevent this and maintain cleanliness.
I personally only went for a front end PPF and not a full car. If i wanted the whole car it would be over double the price.

Sounds similar to these: (I think?)
Lots of places offer it, I just don't think it's as well known as PPF
I've not had it on a car myself, but I have seen a test panel with P1 coatings stuff on a few years ago (think it was called Hypergloss or something at the time) - looked very good.
It's not like the film that can be templated and stuck on the car, just look at GTR video on the Litchfield page - bumpers off etc.

In the Virtual cockpit with the menu button (Left side of steering wheel) then select the correct menu list (Drivers information) then you can have short term/long term and a display with current and short term :)

Depending on the 'traffic' I can average 42 mpg on a 50 mile run, 3 miles of mixed stop start, 40 miles of A55 dual carraigeway at normally 75mph with ACC and 7 miles 30/40 limits at the other end, oddly it never does 42 on the return journey

Exceeding 40 mpg in an RS car is scandalous lol :)

I've got a basic question:
In all my last cars the air con had its specific on/off button.
In the 8Y it looks like I have AC or ECO on the toggle switch - is eco effectively aircon off and just blower ?

I also used to set the blower to screen and vents, but it looks like this is not an option again from the toggle only menu.
Am I right in thinking you can select screen or vents only ?
In other VAG performance models AC Eco is a combined setting with top performance modes as it reduces AC loading on the engine, giving you more power to the wheels and better fuel consumption. Likewise you can normally select AC ECO when configuring your Personal performance setting.
i understand it reduces the cooling load at the expense of a less effective chill on the hottest of days
