Yes I am a bit sceptical on the delivery date but they have checked with Audi UK today & apparently the build slots are there to meet this lead time. We shall see once my order is confirmed on Monday.

I am not really fussed with build weeks so haven't really been keeping track of mine. Its the delivery date that matters to me. I had a call from my dealer today and they said it looks like delivery could now be end of July instead of end of September. I would hope they wouldn't bother calling me to say this if they weren't almost certain.

Have to be careful with the latest lightning ones tho. The cheap eBay ones don't all work for all features on the IPhone 5/6.

As above, good dealers will give you the lead you need for the phone you turn up with. If you and your other half have different phones requiring different leads then technically you'll have to buy the second one. But of course when stood next to a £50k car it's not hard to argue they are GOING to give you a £25 cable!

It does annoy me tho, as they should just give you either a full set of cables for all types of phone - or even better - do what sensible manufacturers do and drop the stupid custom AMI port and just have a USB you can plug your own phone cable into!

Am I correct in saying without the phone box there are is no usb in the car? So the only way to hardwire your phone is with the ami in the centre console.

For some reason everything my dealer tells me, I take with a pinch of salt.

The armrest has a USB charge only port and next to it AMI port.

I'm not sure if spec'ing the phone box is what adds the USB port as I've only seen cars with phone box as an option, I'd be surprised if they were linked tho. The phone box is a must have option for me, I have it in the Mrs Octavia and it significantly increases the phone signal quality and reduces it battery usage (don't always plug it in as USB port is not in the cubby like on the A3 platform).

To confirm if go and ask in the 8V A3 section.

Pretty sure AMI (aka funny Audi-specail [sic] socket) is standard and in the armrest now.

The arm rest comes with the AMI port as standard. The phone box option adds the usb charge port alongside the ami port aswell as the other benefits of the phone box.

If you have the Tech Pack you get the USB port in the arm rest. @josedebardi I have the tech pack in my 8V S3 and I have the USB port.

Having read the brochure, I'm going with its either standard or comes with the phone box.

The only place USB is mentioned is part of the phone box option, but it's worded in a cryptic way (which knowing Audi means it is probably only part of this option!).

Audi Phone Box allows phone calls to be made without a mobile phone cradle. The mobile phone is simply placed in the purpose-designed compartment in the front centre console, which blends smoothly into the overall interior design. Includes:
- A hands-free facility as well as voice control for the phone functions via multi-function steering wheel
- Low SAR radiation in the vehicle interior and improved reception quality: wireless connection to the car aerial at automatically reduced field strengthby means of an integrated coupling aerial in the storage compartment
- Can be charged from USB socket
- Operated via the radio/navigation systems or the multi-function steering wheel
- The mobile phone is automatically recognised after it has been connected for the first time

It's still a beta build anyway so I would take whatever's on there with a pinch of salt

It should definitely be in the system somewhere by now, have you rang your dealer? Ask them to check things at their end, they will be able to get on and see your cars status.

As for the website, Audi aren't renowned for doing the simplest of things correctly...

They've had my email address wrong for at least the last 18 months even though iv told them to change it on several occasions. Both me and my dad bought an S3 8P at similar times from completely different dealers and yet they still send me letters addressed to him concerning his car with my address on.

How hard can it be to get simple admin right?

All in all it's worth double checking with your dealer to make sure they've got all your details correct
