Well I finally got round to fitting my RS grill which I’ve had since October last year. So seeing as most of us are on lockdown I’ve finally had the time & weather to get it fitted. I went for a non Quattro style as mines not Quattro & didn’t want the logo on it.

I had to do a few mods to it before fitting as I didn’t want the massive plate holder on it as I’ve got a short 5digit number plate. Plus I wanted a to fit quick release number plate brackets. So I carefully Dremelled out the fixings on the grill which you can see at the side of the number plate. There was 3 of these to remove.

I also managed to get a replacement lower centre blade for the bumper which I had sprayed gloss black to match better with the Maxton splitter.

I coated the grill & lower blade with Gtechniq C2V3 to hopefully make cleaning easier.

Right so onto the fitting I used this guide from YouTube which helped with this job.

It was quite straightforward do do & you only need a few tools. 10mm socket & t25 & t30 torks bits.
Once the bumper was off you have to paint the aluminium crash bar black to stop it glaring through the new grill.

I took the original Audi rings holder which was on the back of the old grill & fitted it to the new grill.

I also took this opportunity to bolt the Maxton splitter on properly rather than using the self tappers I’d previously used.

The parking sensors went straight into the new grill but the clips wasn’t as tight as the oe grill so I put cable ties round them to hold them in place. You can’t see them from the front & it would save having to mess about with them at a later date.

@J10NMM the bigger one looks like it’s from the arch liner & the smaller one is maybe from under neath the bumper which goes to the under tray maybe

Bulldog, I see you used that video to help you get the bumper off. It's a great vid but I struggle to find that 3rd bolt under the wheel arch liners.

First 2 are obvious, but that 3rd one where you have to get an extended socket through that hole... I just can't find? I get my fingers in there and all I get is steel frame.

I might add that I drive a C7 Allroad, but I wouldn't have thought the bolt locations are any different. I attach a pic for ref...

P. S. You might remember me, I'm that Chinese fella that took your roof bars off you a while back

@Duck A4 that 3rd bolt is under the headlight if you put a torch there you can see the bolt through the hole. Yeah I remember you fella how you finding the C7 platform ?

Hmm, I think I'll have to have another check. I only turned my wheels full lock and didn't remove them so maybe the angle wasn't right.

Mate, the A4 was always a touch too small but I went for it because it looked the part and ultimately better than my Q5.
But this 3.0 C7 is a beast in comparison, and with the leg room to boot! Always fancied an allroad too so the decision was pretty easy.

Almost went for a 313bhp BiTdi, but ended up with the 272bhp... And got it tuned to 320bhp. Miss that noise though!

@Duck A4 just use a long extension bar & you’ll find it. I nearly went for a B9 Avant before I got the C7 but couldn’t find one with a decent spec & my C7 has got an amazing spec so was a no brainer.

drop @J10NMM a message as he might want to sell his black edition grill.

Yeah I remember you showing me all the bells and whistles! It really doesn't want for anything that car... Except maybe a couple of chrome exhaust trim parts!

Thanks for the heads up about the grille. I love my allroad, but it doesn't have the B8.5 black edition looks so I'm trying to reclaim that.

Only got it in late December and so far I've wrapped the interior trim in gloss black, tinted windows and wrapped the surrounds, changed the chrome roof rails to black, changed the wheels and painted the calipers... Lock down has some unexpected benefits..!

@Duck A4 I’ve fitted tailpipe trims already.

Bulldog, did those quick release plate holders come with the new, shorter plate or was it a seperate purchase?

@Duck A4 to be fair the newer design look better as they look like they’ll spread the load of the plate better as mine only go through 1 hole in the mesh. I’d get them as there’s not much else out there.

Interesting. Well at least I can remove the existing plate holder easily enough whilst my replacement grille is in situ

These pictures are from the seller, but they don't really do it justice, it's in mint condition.

Still debating whether I want a chrome badge instead. Although I have a black boot emblem, I like the idea that the chrome pops on a black grille.

I’d go for chrome badge on the front as I think a black badge makes it look like someone’s nicked you badge lol. I’ve debating weather to put a black badge on the rear of mine for ages but can’t make my mind up !!

Ha ha! You might be right! :)

Might need 4 of them!!

Although I am seriously thinking of tearing off any sticky pads and using a flexible epoxy of some kind.

I’ve got them on mine with no issues at all even at speed they haven’t moved & they’re a nice tight sturdy fit.

Just got my new sensors today and although they clip in correctly on the rear, the front protrudes by about 5mm.

I know neither the grille or sensors are oem but apart from it not being neat, does anyone think that this'll be a problem in day to day use?

I wouldn’t have thought it would be an issue can you not pull them back a bit & use a cable tie similar to how I did ?

I did think that, but then I'd have to take out the retaining 'tooth' on each side of the sensor retainer. Maybe with a dremmel or something.

Without taking those off, the sensor just pops forward becuase it's a fairly snug fit.

That’s probably why as most things non oe never fit right. If you are going to use them before you fit try your original sensors first to see how they fit. On mine I’m 99% certain they fit flush.

That's a good plan but I'd need to paint them black... And I'm not sure if the paint would affect the sensor?
