Well I finally got round to fitting my RS grill which I’ve had since October last year. So seeing as most of us are on lockdown I’ve finally had the time & weather to get it fitted. I went for a non Quattro style as mines not Quattro & didn’t want the logo on it.
I had to do a few mods to it before fitting as I didn’t want the massive plate holder on it as I’ve got a short 5digit number plate. Plus I wanted a to fit quick release number plate brackets. So I carefully Dremelled out the fixings on the grill which you can see at the side of the number plate. There was 3 of these to remove.
Before
After
Quick release brackets fitted.
Plate mounted
I also managed to get a replacement lower centre blade for the bumper which I had sprayed gloss black to match better with the Maxton splitter.
Lower blade
Painted gloss Black
I coated the grill & lower blade with Gtechniq C2V3 to hopefully make cleaning easier.
Right so onto the fitting I used this guide from YouTube which helped with this job.
It was quite straightforward do do & you only need a few tools. 10mm socket & t25 & t30 torks bits.
Once the bumper was off you have to paint the aluminium crash bar black to stop it glaring through the new grill.
before
after
I took the original Audi rings holder which was on the back of the old grill & fitted it to the new grill.
I also took this opportunity to bolt the Maxton splitter on properly rather than using the self tappers I’d previously used.
The parking sensors went straight into the new grill but the clips wasn’t as tight as the oe grill so I put cable ties round them to hold them in place. You can’t see them from the front & it would save having to mess about with them at a later date.
Onto the finished pics
Thanks for reading & hope other find this helpful when they do there’s.
