Hi, I have bought an Rns-e from a breaker on EBay, they could not get the code to be accepted, they tried an online, and Audi, but apparently the unit was not original fit to the car, so it was cheap. Now I may have thrown away my money, but can anyone help? Any ideas? Happy to send it away if need be. Its from an 8p S3 2011, led Aisin 8p0035193g.
    Many thanks Geoff

Sounds dodgy to me - maybe you've bought a stolen one? Can you not get a refund from ebay?

A dealer should be able to get you the PIN from the units serial number.

No not stolen it was from a reputable car breaker on EBay, they had lots of cars breaking, and pics of the car itself, had a good conversation with them, they'd tried a couple of the online people who give codes, and called Audi, car wasn't fitted with Rns-e at factory. I've tried a guy on Ebay, DND but he can't do these.

Like I said, Audi have the capability to get the units PIN code from the serial number (rather than the VIN).

normally reputable breakers sell the headunit with code , i would say as you got it cheap ( how much was cheap ) they already knew they couldn't get the correct code for the Rnse . My opinion return it too them and if there as teputable as you say they will take back no problem , unless you already knew from them that it didn't have a code and hoped you could easily just get one and ended up with a bargain rathet than a big fat Lemon

You can purchase a code for ebay for about £5 - give them your serial number and they generate the code. I’ve used these services before and they’re fine.

    Hello to every one,
I have now the same problem I have bought RNS-E unit from Ebay.de , but the unit comes with a pin (code) when I was contacted the seller they told me that is pin code is not necessary for this unit.
When I have put this unit in my car, rns-e want to insert a pin code, then I buy radio code for my unit on eBay and get it.
Then appears a new problem, the unit wants to accept the code which I was bought from a reseller on eBay then I contact 4 more resellers and still get the same code.
What is my solution now, can anybody help me or I was lost the money and time.
When I was asked a guy from eBay which sell radio codes last 10 years, for any other solution for this unit then I got this disgusting message.

Maybe your unit is repaired so therefore the sticker doesn’t match the board either that or it’s actually faulty.

I’ve seen some websites demonstrating dumping the EEPROM memory and finding the block which contains the code the unit is expecting too see
    - finding the memory location for the PIN and then converting that hex back to ascii.

Obviously you cannot do this if you don’t have any dexterity.
