anyone know if rns-e number 8e035192tx sw660 with sds will fit my car

If the part number begins 8E0 then it will fit any B6 or B7.

BTW the x on the end means it's been repaired by Audi.

And there is no official 660 version firmware, so the firmware is hacked as well (which isn't necessary a bad thing - but could be if who hacked it fecked the process up at all)

thanks might be best to stay clear then

You can force it to downgrade in firmware, so it's not all bad.

surely if its an exchange unit from audi then it going to be a good / newer one.
the fact the sw is a hack is irrelavant, easy to get any sw of the net for free, so no problems there.
how much is the seller asking for it ? if you dont want it and its the right money, please could you forward details to me.
many thanks

450 including delivery but without wiring loom

to dear mate, you can get them all day long cheaper than that with a loom, gps etc. thanks anyway

i've been trying to get one now for about two weeks and thats about as cheap as i've come across

Not quite. If you don't have vagcom or aren't very literate in firmware flashing then it could be a problem. My unit came with an sds enabled hack.... everything looked bob on in the settings etc, but for the life of me I couldn't get sds working. My rns-e wasn't even powering up the mic. My unit firmware version was showing ---X . It wasn't until I downgraded to 5xx and then upgraded using a pucka DVD to 650.... then doing the sds hack my self did I get a sds working properly.

Can't pmjeedy(not sure on exact username) get them fairly cheap with loom and dvd's?

its pjmspeedy and yes he gets complete units as far as i know for around £450 but are complete i think.

just ordered one from pjmspeedy safer than ebay

I know of several people who have loaded software from the net onto their RNS-E and turned it into an expensive brick.

The other issue is that unless you own the genuine DVD you don't have a licence for the software so technically you are in breach of copyright.

Hacked software stories made me nervous, but as I understand it, an OEM DVD will give you the software update too.

can anyone advise on the best setup for bluetooth and ipod and price.

What is the 4th connector on the loom?
Sounds like you've got Bose - the fourth connector (usually brown) is for the front speakers on non-Bose cars.

If you have a Bose car and a non-Bose wiring adapter check that the Bose pin is grounded and that the FL & FR line level signals are connected through.

Looks like it has no use. I've plugged it all in and it's working fine without. I don't have BOSE on any of my grills, so i don't think i have it.

when i get my rns-e will it work straight away or do i need to code it to my car with vagcom before it will even turn on, when i mentioned this to my local specialist he reckoned i could have trouble doin it and getting the dis working depending on the unit i get, roughly how long should the coding take. its a 2009 t model

Some will say you can plug it in and it will work with out coding..... but no matter what people say, you WILL have to code the car to tell it it has nav. The unit may appear to work fine, but you'll probably be missing the dis navigation and a few other little bits depending on whats installed in your car.

A compatent VCDS user should be able to code your nav unit and car in less than 10 mins max.

i've ordered vcds from nhn so i should have it by the end of next week. what about a non competant vcds user

Took me 10 mins :p
You'll be fine, lots of how2's online and it's very simple.

hey guys back from a little holiday (luckily on a boat not a plane!)

Had a few goodies on my return one of which was my VCDS cable, so just had a little play with it and did an auto scan which showed a few errors one of which was to do with the brake switch i replaced not long back and the others were with the rnse i fitted. Anyway have cleared the faults but now i want to force the rnse to do a software update as it says version X at the mo no mater what DVD i put in it it doesnt do a software upgrade (i have an original 2008 disc and a copy of 2009 which works ok) so my question is how do i force the rnse to update the software using VCDS (be gentle as this will only be the second time i have used the cable) and which disc should i use?

Cheers

Done the RNSE firmware rollback and am now running version 650.

Got a few more RNSE related questions though first off what did i have to do to get the NAV directions to show on the DIS?? I think i saw somewhere you have to enable it via VCDS (which i think i have done but not 100% sure) then there is some sort of method of getting it to display on the DIS screen which i am unsure of.

Also as i have done the firware to 650 do i have to do any hacks?? i dont have a phone connected to the RNSE at the mo but might do in the future so i would like the microphone to work (ther is already one in the car from an old nokia kit).

Lastly as i wanted the RNSE fitted asap i just did it as soon as i got the car but now i keep hearing about this Bose pin as i dont have Bose should i take the stereo out and see if i have this pin? and if i do have the pin what exactly would grounding it do?

Cheers in advance

Where do we start,
firstly throw the nokia mic in the bin, its useless for what you want it for, youll need a genuine audi mic ( ill send you a link later, about £10 on the bay )
the mic will need to run to the rns-e marked mic in + and mic in -, then youll need to hack your rns-e upto 660, can be downloaded off the net, this will give you the SDS hack once coded.

if you dont have bose then dont worry about the ground pin, this will not affect you.

to get the nav directions on the dis, set the nav off, once your on your way, turn the rns-e off ( press and hold in the volume button ) then turn it back on again, providing you have coded correctly you will have nav on your dis.

Cheers Lea,

Damn i was hoping that mic would be ok as it has been nicely wired in place :( not really too fussed about the phone prep at the mo as i dont use it but was a nice future mod.

Cool about the bose thing i was concerned that as my car is non bose it might try to do Bose things from the RNSE that my audio system didnt support.

Lastly will give the DIS directions ago tonight o see if i managed to get the coding right or not.

Ahh i see wasnt 100% sure what SDS was but thats sounds quite nifty.

I just hate running wires thru the car as i always mange to break a piece of trim or scratch something :( I still really like your reverse camera mod so maybe if i start running wires thru the car i will do both :)

Dammit now i need a MFSW! i hate this forum how am i meant to save up for my OLED TV if i keep spending money on my car :(

I've just done the mfsw for about 130 quid, granted its not a flat bottom one, but it does the job and is neat.
