Hi, my rns-e has been shutting down and generally playing silly beggars. We were on a run over the moors and it went off after about half an hour. So I took it out when we got back and the heat-sink was hot enough to burn skin! I gather there must be a thermal cut-out?

After it cooled down, I connected - & + to it, powered up and took out my SD cards and dvd.

My question is; should the fan run while the set is connected in this way (it didn't), or does it need something extra from the car loom, i.e. do I have a knackered fan?

I would remove unit, power up whilst plugged into car & see if the fans running with engine running.

Check for any faults logged in rns for fan etc.

I immediately looked at the last post before any others and thought you were just talking about yourself in the third person

Can always send it to me to inspect, as I have some spare parts.

Thanks for that great offer, I got it off fleabay in October. I've e-mailed the seller and he's willing to swap it for another one. I'll post what happens!:readit:
