Rice's S3

Lovely Car!! :applaus: I think the cupra r wheels work well, have you spaced them at all? if so what mm?

Cheers
Adam

Love the neatly-arranged bottles on the shelf in the garage - nice.

Also liking the black & white theme of the car & garage walls/doors - very co-ordinated!.

Thanks! I'm pretty OCD when it comes to arranging things in my garage lol, I'm not sure why I half sprayed the door, I was probably bored. And keeping the audi clean. Well that's fair enough, would be boring if everyone liked the same thing :). Ah yeah, looks good. I quite like the look of them on mine though. Thanks! That would be interesting yeah. Not sure it would go with the black and white theme though. Ta, much appreciated :).Ha well it was only last night I uploaded it :). Thanks very much though. It's nice to have people appreciate what you've done.

lol I can see you and the OCD Doctor will become great friends :moa:

Chris.

Thinking about putting a boost gauge in? Would this be a good idea, so i can watch what the turbo is doing?? I know fairly little about turbo cars to be honest.

Was thinking of getting a vent boost gauge holder like this..

254-1.jpg

Are boost gauges easy to fit? I guess its just a case of putting vacuum lines to somewhere?

Also, it has some odd set up with the turbo valves... Basically it chatters when you let off the accelerator. Which is the turbo stalling isnt it? So i guess its not good for the turbos health? I think its just the standard dump valve turned the wrong way round, or something like that. Should i be looking at getting a forge 007p? Everyone seems to bang on about them.

I had a forge 007p on a couple of my old vag turbos and it was great id recommend, ive been thinking of the vent pod thing too but id like to lose the right centre one not the right vent near the door but i cant seem to find one for the center anywhere.

What does it actually do? Do you get any performance gains from it?

not 100% sure mate I'm not very mechanical minded but i did swap it on my last vag turbo for the forge split-R, and that gave an awesome dump sound once you let off the power, i'm not sure if id have that again think i might be getting too old ha

i was considering a vent pod mate but in the end i decided on a a-pillar mount as i wanted to leave the outer vent free! the a pillar pods look quite good once installed!

Yeah see I'm not that keen on the pillar ones. They look a little bit Barry imo. I've seen steering column type mounts that look cool.

turbo stall is bad for vag turbo'd cars. The kkk / k04 turbo s are a small turbo relatively speaking and the stall is air back flowing across the fins which will eventually cause excessive play in the shaft and you paying out for a rebuild. It sounds "wicked" but only really appropriate in jap stuff with big strong turbos. Get that fixed mate, and if I was you I would order a new oem Bosch dump valve from vw dealer or tps or they are readily available on eBay .

WOW!! What a lovely S3, love the colour and the mods. Not too keen on the LCR wheels but good on you for doing something different.

Do you have the part number for the windscreen rubber seal? Cant quite make it out on the picture lol

Is it easy to replace that seal at the top? Mines gone a bit manky and I thought it was a windscreen out job?!

Ta, Liam

We need more pics and updates!!!

Haha sorry man, ive been pretty busy this week trying to keep up the picture of my dog, aka samuel l dogson going viral all over the internet. I did do something today though!

Not really, to be honest i ended up messing up it up a bit, but it looks a lot better than before. i had to use a screw driver to push it in, and i indented the metal strip inside the rubber, so its a bit kinked in places.

Anyway, some pictures!

Got a new divert valve from TPS, a 710N one, was only £26+vat. I turned my old one round, and it helped a little but it was still having troubles fully opening at lower revs so was still chattering/fluttering a bit.

Some pictures after a clean today to keep you lot happy!

Cheers mate :). Yeah, I do most things myself, only thing I've had someone else do is the manifold. But for £70 I'd rather pay someone else to do it who knows exactly what they're doing.

Some more pictures for y'all I took last night

Thanks guys, much appreciated :)! Not sure on led number plate lights, I've considered it, but most cars I see with led number plate lights that didn't come from the factory with them look a bit naff imo. Anyone got any pics of an s3 with them?

Went for a drive yesterday with a couple mates as it was such a nice day! Gotta show these japs who's best.

Pretty major update...

Took the rear wiper off.... Why it's taken me so long to do it I do not know. Never use it anyway, it's never that dirty lol.
Got the tardis out to get rid of some lingering tar spots too... Pretty hectic day.

You do indeed :).

Another small update...

So the n/s/f brake decided it wanted to seize on last Wednesday, livid as it was nice weather and wanted to take it out that evening.

One shagged piston

Ordered a new piston and seals from brakes international, came the next day (yesterday), very pleased with the service :). So got that fitted and bled it.
Then it was time to fit a new passenger side window wire mechanism thingy as the wire snapped last weekend, so took the door subframe out to replace it.

what a pig of a job it was to replace it, once I'd figured out how it went after a lot of swearing and throwing tools.

Then i put it back on to realise that the guides arent level, so the window doesnt shut properly... ****ing ebay!!!!!

Pic of my problems! (excuse the lines)
