The first time I seen the green saloon test car I wanted the colour. Love it. I’ve not had an issue with unwanted attention so far. I even pulled up at the co op one night behind an RFC supporters bus dropping off. A guy came up and tapped the window, complimented the car and said I assume you’re a Celtic fan, I said no. Don’t follow football just like the colour. Fist Bumped me and went on his way.

I don't follow either celtic or rangers I live in Hamilton/Cumbernauld football to me is a waste of a good bit of grass ...at 59 l just couldn’t have gone Kyalami ...besides l am a blue paint man I've probably even got time to change my colour but it'll still be a shade of blue but for shear impact Kyalami Green is almost unbeatable

Had the most embarrassing thing the other day when a kid asked me to rev the engine. I politely told him it’s not that loud and drove off. Even they remember the pfl sound!

Interesting review…

It's this line that really gets me:

"A clear stance we’ve taken with customers is we haven’t deleted features for our line-up [due to the semi-conductor shortage]."

What a joke. :tearsofjoy:

I notice that they say on the track there is fairly significant understeer around corners. I've said before that my experience is that if you're off throttle mid corner you may experience more understeer and I noticed that in every corner they're off throttle through the bends so it's no wonder. I'm no pro or anything but I'd imagine if they were a little slower into the corner and powered through it the understeer would be massively reduced.

Yeah they decided to drive it like it is a RWD car, and they were in individual mode too. From what i've read online about the magna rear diff, the torque is only better distributed if you are in Performance or Dynamic.

I noticed a few of the initial launch 'testers' when they were trying the 'Torque rear' mode on the wet surface in Greece getting their technique wrong and just ploughing straight on, also popped up in I think on one of Joe Achillies video's where he said something like 'must be something on the road there' as he had an understeer moment, both of those rang the 'alarm bell' in my head that the Magna diff (software) isnt quite all it's made out to be.

I say 'Software' as I test drove (twice) a Mk8 Golf R with the 'same' hardware, now that car (from memory) gave me so much confidence to grab it by the scruff of the neck and chuck it about like I 'stole it' .................the same confidence that the RS3 has never instilled in me.

I also remember 'Car' magazines short take on the 8V, something along the lines of 'Not involving to drive, dont be ashamed to want one, buy a Golf R instead' I wonder just how long before that stuff comes out again?

Hamza hasa back to back Youtube of 8Y RS3/Golf8R, he descibes the RS3 as had too much caffeine and the 8R certianly puts a bigger smaile on his face

It seemed quite a different review to the others and there was some obviuose angst that Audi took ages to give them a car.

I can't beleive how much praise the Golf R gets, I also didn't realise it had the same rear diff.

Also bear in mind they are Americans. :)

I don't know if it's a software or hardware thing because I've not driven the new Golf R. That being said, I don't know if there's a bunch that the trick diff can do mid corner for understeer if it's not being given any input torque to try to push the car through with? So if you thrashed the RS3 in the same way as the Golf R I can't imagine that either would be able to help much mid corner off throttle, but as I say, I've not driven the Golf to compare.

In terms of understeer.... My GTR would push straight on if you push the loud pedal on a tight roundabout. And that was pretty much rwd.
It's all about balancing the weight distribution of the car and momentum.
Also driving like Jenson Button helps. Single input steering reduces the chance of understeer. Every time you turn the steering wheel you incur slip. And round a corner at asked that will see you go wide.

A mate had an S2 avant followed by an RS2 avant, RS2 looked gorgeous in Nogaro blue but in all honesty the S2 was the better road car, the RS2 had a much larger turbocharger (IIRC) and the turbo 'lag' was horrendous, very much like an early 911 turbo with a 7.5-1 compression ratio that did absolutely nothing until 4000rpm

I liked the way they went about this review.

They even commented on the 30k interior on a 72k car

There’s nothing new to say……….

He doesn't actually tell us anything about his time with the car. I could do that video from just what I've read on here.

Eg what mode he drives in, fuel economy. Handling. Overtaking ability. Etc.

Too many reviews saying the same thing now………. You Tube is saturated to the point where you can’t really learn anything new, even if you haven’t taken delivery.

Even the EvilGT vids have ran out of steam lol

Apparently it's dangerous to reverse the car in sunlight due to said sunlight entering the car through the Pan Roof and obscuring the MMI, maybe Audi should flash a warning up on the Virtual cockpit to warn owners of this :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

Not really just a winter Car, I'm just planning all my journeys and only reversing in and out when it's dark, either that or I get the wifey with a couple of paddles to help guide me if the sunlight is making revesing too dangerous :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:
