That depends on what you prioritise the most ....interior or exterior....BMW's interior wins Audi's exterior on the saloon wins but the sportback just looks a bit ungainly too heavy at the front....in proportion to the rear....Also dependant on how familiar you are with audis virtual cockpit ....you won't be

Imho I wouldn’t say the bmw interior is better… the dials are crap and that’s what you’re faced with for 90% of the time you’re looking at the interior - even the steering wheel design is a step back from the f8x 3/4 series, again imho.

Agree on the sport back point you make - there has always been something about that didn’t sit right for me but I could t quite put my finger on what, but it’s the proportions you mention at the rear, it seems almost too short.

I am becoming familiar with the Audi virtual cockpit, not got previous experience of past Audi cockpits to compare which may be a factor but it’s fine for me. Don’t get me wrong there are elements of its operation that are “clunky”, and I’d prefer it had that central rev counter layout of the 8v, but I’ve made my peace with it now

I stick to the book so the 600 run in miles have been done and the revs can now increase. But not red line. All I can say is it’s a disappointment in some ways. Compared to the 8V pfl it sounds like a hoover. It looks amazing but not sure about the way it drives. Seems to be much more rear end powered as the front end lifts when you floor it. Maybe that’s a good thing? On back roads it does feel more planted and much more steering feedback. Will see how it pans out once opened up fully.

Agree 100%.

I’m not sure the engine noise is great either(not the exhaust noise) now it’s quieter you hear more of what’s going on at the front.

It does whistle quite a bit though when foot is down……..

Hopefully it'll grow on ya and you'll enjoy it more but at least you've been honest about your experience so far with your car

I am not 100% convinced on the handling more so down those 'back roads', it's fine and grippy to about 90% of it's capabilities, but that last 10% still has mine twitching at the rear all over the place, it never does anything serious just gives the feeling as if the magna diff cant make it's mind up what to do,

Much more noticeable over cambered or slightly rough surfaces and I dont think it's a very 'rewarding' feeling either, a little like it's not agreeing with what I am doing and making it's presence felt.

I'm pretty convinced that VW have made the better job of programming how the magna diff works tbh, I just 'bonded' instantly with the Golf mk8R over my 2 hour demo with the car feeling as if it was giving me the come on to push it harder and harder, i'm not getting that with the RS3, more like the car warning me it's not happy ?

I just dont understand the cost, I had a quote for just the front bumper/bonnet.front of wings and mirrors, £1500.................

I really can not see my car being worth £1500 more because of PPF in 4 years time

I'm also not conviced with Ceramic coatings, I did my two rear wheels, (wheels off the car to treat them) do they either look any different or clean any easier than the fronts?..........not at all

Come resale you'll gain a few quid with no visible stone chips??
Ceramic coating is a good thing as it's easier to clean the car but it's not worth the money most charge for it plus the protection/gloss/ease of cleaning does diminish even more so if your car aint garaged ....Direct Sunlight/winter weather kills the coating very quickly

True ....a few quid more but nowt to write home about Plus ye can touch/disguise the chips up plus PPF cannot match the gloss a freshly machine polish panel can ...
Basically ceramic coatings are for people who have no time/desire to properly maintain the paint fair play

My Golf at 4 1/2 years old and 42k miles had a couple of small stone chips, one on the bonnet and one on the bumper, 3 lads came to buy the car, none of them found either of them and they crawled all over the car for about an hour

I’ve decided against PPF but got a ceramic coating. Never had one before so will see how it goes…

However, I did treat my bbs to gtechniq C5 and the coating was great. Never needed wheel cleaner again, just a pressure wash and wipe. Surprised you didn’t notice any difference with yours as mine were far far far easier to clean after…

no offence meant however any ceramic coating worth its salt is noticeable and really works - and I’m talking the big brand ones. Gyeon, gtechniq to name a few.

when I first got in touch with my detailer some 6 years ago now, I had coated my own alloys with carbon collective. I never noticed a bit of different with it there however when I put the car in to get done in Gyeon ceramics, my detailer knew it was there somehow.

I 100% would not have a car of its value that isn’t ceramic coated. The difference it makes when done properly and with an appropriate brand is mind blowing. I cringe when I hear people put all of these coatings on I’ve never heard of (and I’ve researched a lot of them).

No difference at all, I pressure washed the car as it was a little grimey expecting to have to wash the front wheels but not the rears and they both sets looked the same and needed the soapy water and brush :(

That’s a shame. What coating was it? I will be sure not to use the same stuff.

I was skeptical but with proper application (I did it wrong the first time and had to remove and then reapply) mine worked a treat. Had to weather the storm of them curing in the kitchen (wife wasn’t pleased ) but they were great.

Huge price difference....fully loaded M240i is still a grand or 2 lower than the standard RS3
The retail price of the car l have on order with the exclusive paint is almost £20k more expensive than the standard M240i....unbelievable how overpriced the RS3 8Y has become since it's launch

I has the fortune of driving both the M240i and RS3 back to back a couple of weeks ago and I filmed them both. I have already put out the M240i video on my channel - the RS3 will probably be next week. However I could have edited it into a comparison video as I commented on the differences in both videos.

Some obvious differences - the M240i has a better interior and is more refined and quieter with road noise over 100mph but doesn’t feel as fun as the RS3.

I watched your review and do subscribe to the channel your review of the beemer seemed a little short cut....you didnt drive it outwith the test track l do intend to test drive the M240i and l also believe it's available for ordering with a BMW individual paint A comparison video with you being a 8y owner would be interesting

Ps that colour is ****** dreadful looking saw one 2 weeks ago in it

From what I have seen on line, the M240 looks to be great car - sounds pretty good too having a 6 cylinder.

The 'What Car' review seemed nicely balanced and presented between RS3 and 240i, the 'Car' magazine review was on a mission from the first paragraph to place the BMW in 1st position, however, we need a hatch and if I could have had a saloon or coupe the rear of the BMW is not exactly good looking !

It was short because I had 15 minutes with the car… I literally filmed it in the car park and then took it on the test track and returned it for the next person! As it was at a trade press event! considering how much time I had it turned out decently I thought.

I did notice R44 removed those things from my rear wheel arch a couple of days after I had mine lowered... they didn't say they removed them and they also kept them
though I think the issue is only with 20mm rear spacers (I went for 15) but hey, they still kept them :/

The only thing I took out of this was starting it up in RS Performance. I have to admit it does sound a lot better. Not 8V level but takes a little of the embarrassment out of the noise on start up.

This is the first car I’ve had with a start button so it took me wee while to figure out how to just turn on the ignition. Ive always just got in, foot on brake and start. Probably stupid just figuring this out but keeping your foot off the brake and pressing the button turns on the ignition allowing you to cycle to RS Performance.

Every day is a school day!

Puts ridiculous spacers on, wonders why the car is getting damaged, there’s a similar post on a Facebook group, someone actually moaning about the fact the car is damaging the arches because he’s put spacers on, everyone pointing out that the Bridgestone are wider at the shoulder, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to notice there’s a difference vs the Pirelli shoulders.

I’ve no idea why anyone would space wheels out past bodywork like he’s done above.

If your a company offering this how in hell do you think it wouldn’t start to ruin the arches, yet still fit them.

Bonkers.

Fits spacers on that make the wheels stick outside of the arch and then has to work it out why he's getting c*ap thrown all down the side of his car, to$$er

On one of the FB groups they are doing the usual thing of slagging Audi off for mixing tyre fitment up on different cars, more braindeadery………

I just realised that we do not have rear cross traffic alerts and assist on the new RS3 on any of the cars.

Audi package the rear assist WITH the blind spot/lane charge assist - which we also do not have.

However, I understand that the rear cross traffic alerts use the same sensors as the auto park feature so should be able to be activated using OBDeleven/VCDS.

Has anyone tried this? I do not know what the coding would be.

@DJAlix maybe you know?

Ah ... one of those new 'virtual' cars then :tearsofjoy:
Too busy asking questions.......
