Morning all, installed an xtrons stereo last weekend and noticed straight away when going into reverse it automatically tries to open a reverse camera which I obviously don't currently have, so I hopped onto ebay and picked this 1 up without doing much research into it. Since purchasing it I've looked into best way to install it etc and noticed a few problems, first 1 doesn't affect me as I don't have led rear bulbs, but I've noticed a few people with this 1 regularly get bulb out warnings come up on the dash. So I guess my question is this, anyone with this camera not have any problems and if not what camera does everyone have? Thinking about sending this 1 back and spending a little extra on the 1 that replaces the boot handle. Unfortunately xtrons don't do a specific 1 for my car. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Ooff wireless. Get them with cables bud. I've installed a wireless reversecam in the truck for my work. They are a pain in the ***. Most of the times the image quality is bad or disorted. To answer your question, I would get one that goes on your numberplate. I got this one back then for my first A3 8P: https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/4000...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_ This one comes with cables on it. So you have to drill a small hole in your trunk and feed the cables through. Then connect the yellow tullip connector for image and connect the powerline to either your reverselight or to your HU reverse gear trigger line. The reason for me to get this one is to have the camera centred (so right in the middle). While fitting it at your licenseplate lights it's a slight bit off to the left/right. That bothers me more than it should lol.
Yeh I went with wireless as I thought it would be much easier to install but now thinking it about it and looking at what came in the box for the sake of an extra 5mimutes running the wire through the car probably should of gone for the wired option the numberplate camera looks and sounds like a good idea but I have a short plate and it would look out of place and then hassle switching round for mot time, I have seen the 1s that replace the boot handle which would have the camera more centralised, probably a better option then? Not sure if that'll require drilling a hole as well? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Not sure if you would need to drill a hole, I didn't fitted those. Connecting them is pretty straight forward so just find a camera with you like. They are all the same; - Powerline - Yellow tullip connect for image.
I have the number plate one took some setting up. I do get bulb error every now and then Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Boot handle one works fine from ATD, I wouldn't bother with led plate light version or wireless as the light difference also would probably annoy you. When fitting the wires boot handle version, you have to dremel some internal plastic away for the handle switch to work properly everyone & you have to drill new screw holes in the camera rear to fit, once you do this it'll be perfect.
If you want both number plate lights to be led’ s with no errors, then EM Tuning do a resistor loom to prevent errors. It’s a simple plug in job in the hatch panel. https://emtuning.co.uk/product/emt-number-plate-led-bulbs-canbus/
Went with the boot handle one, fitted a front facing one a year later. Was about 16 quid on aliexpress. You can turn off the auto reverse cam option on the headunit though if that's the only reason you're getting the cam
