Retrofit heater climate control unit 2007 to 2008.

Hi there has anyone done this modification before. i have a 2007 s3 with the heater as pictured below. and would like to swap to the panel that has the chrome switches. Does anyone know if it is a straight swap?? the part numbers are the same but the one with the chrome switches has BM at the end of it?? :-S

Apparently not, but I think there's a way to change the knobs.

If yours is a 2007 you may get away just swapping the whole unit over and it working correctly. Try it out and then press the auto button and see if the air comes into the cabin. If you can hear the air but don't feel anything coming through the vents then you would need to follow my guide here:

I followed Ash's guide and swapped the knobs over , my A3 is a 2005 , unit wouldn't work .
Easy to do just take it easy but watch the tabs on the new buttons , like Ash says , they are really easy to snap .

2005's deffo don't work with the new units and need to have the switches swapped over... i have seen a couple of late 2007s working by simply swapping over the complete unit but more success on 57 plate A3s.
anything older will need to swap the switches over.

Mine is a 2007. first registered in august 2007. Many thanks for all you input. I think im going to try and have a stab at swapping the whole unit over!

Wonder if you could put the pre facelift circuit board into the facelift unit?
