Kufatec do a retrofit kit for €499 which consists of a tuner, aerial cable and what I think is an amp (antenna module)

http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/Audi/A4-B8/8K/DAB-Digital-Radio-Retrofit-Audi-A4-8K-MMI-3G

Has anyone got any experience of fitting one?

I fitted a similar kit to my S5 (MMI 2G) without any issues (was second hand parts from eBay), was pretty much plug and play, no coding required.

Kufatech rep has said I would need Audi to remove component protection, just wondered why this was not the case with the S5?

With the 2G car the DAB radio does not have CP, in the 3G car the radio/amp does have CP, so when you replace it the CP will kick in.

Thanks. So would fitting the DAB and plugging it in make the whole MMI unit go into meltdown until it was re-coded?

Just another way for Audi to ensure they get a cut of any retrofit work!

No sound from whole system?

Any idea how much it costs to have CP removed?
