Basically is it possible?

The last few days i've got into the car it has been seriously cold. Just wondered if its possible to get all the bits to make my seats heated.

Do the seats come pre-wired?

Any info is appreciated.

Hi there,

newbie to the fold here, been reading through posts and found some great information!! looks like a great forum. Picking up my 03 S3 hopefully tomorrow :) Its black, black leather, sunroof, silver mirrors, armrest, bose, APR upgrade and factory 18" 9 spokes.

I found this in my search as heated seats was the one thing I was looking for but couldnt find with the spec I wanted. Not sure what they are like and have no experience of the company...but an option I guess

Good luck with the car matey, you'll enjoy it. I saw that link earlier today, but decided £500 is a bit steep, hence the thread - wasn't sure whether it could be done. I think my thoughts have been confirmed. I'd rather be cold for 5 minutes than shell out 500 notes!!

never know, sometimes the interior with heated seats might come cheap on ebay, lets say £800 ish, then sell your interior for £600 - £700

but its just finding the interior same as yours lol

YOU CAN retro fit heated seats to VW recaros, so I cannot see why its not possible to do with the S3 ones.

Check out a search on UK mk-ivs.net, there are a fair few people do it and I think IIRC it costs about £80 a seat, all parts available from VAG.

My tdi has heated seats. i been looking for new interior and none have heated seats, so looks like a retrim jobby for me. gona cost 500

did audi ever fit the heated pads in the seats meaning you just have to fit the controls??
My car was imported from the netherlands, that make a difference??

Looking through ETKA briefly i could not see sepeate sections for heated and non heated seats.
A quick way to check for heating elements would be to pull the seat thigh supports out to there max point and have a look under the seat and there should be two black wires going from the thigh support to under the seat. these wires are the heating element wires for the thigh support. If these wires are there then the rest of the seat elements should be there.
Someone go out n check right now !!! ( im ok beacuse i have them)

dunno! there is more stuff on uk mkivs.net about retro fitting for sure.

Just checked under my seats and no green plugs just a spare black two pin one:think:

well thats the end of that one then - so will need to get heated pad, loom and switch, and someone daring enough to pull th leather away from the seat!

Well someone will have to grow some big kahoonas to pull the leather off the seats and then expect to have it nice n neat again later.
My dealer removed the leather from one side to access the lumbar support an dnever got it right and ended up paying for a specialist to have it fixed.
Not a task that one should do and especially in the cold weather when leather is fragile.
One moment while i go out and sit in my lovely heated seats...mmmm

yes I saw the same thing too, I contacted them and they also fit for £185.00

If their product is reliable then I don't see why it wouldn't work and getting them to fit would be an even better idea. I'd have the switch on the seat near the movement buttons.

yeah im thinking the same could be worth seeing if they woud give a deal on a few installs together if anyone elses interested?? assuming its a good/quality outfit

this thread looks like it could use a little life

Six years down the line, does anyone know anymore on this as im looking to upgrade my current s3 (with heated seats) to another with less miles.....
The heated seats thing is limiting my options. i wont be able to do without now lol....

Honestly my best advice would be to leave well alone, unless you take it to a upholsterer that knows how they are constructed and come apart, these seats do not take kindly to being taken apart, and many of the fixings are intended to be a one use fit.

Cheers. I would destroy them to be honest lol...
i may be in a possition where i can keep hold of my current one after purchase. If i swap the seats, is it simple enough wiring them up using the preface switches?

Good choice, its a brave DIYer who tries taking them apart.

An Audi dealer failed with (many) attempts to fix a problem with one of my 8L S3 heated seats.
In the end, I had them agree to send it to Recaro.

I have no idea if the wiring is in place if you were to swap seats. sorry.
