Reset service light

Hi all,

Had my S3 serviced recently, and the chap couldn't reset the service indicator (using VCDS). Can anyone advise or help in the north east area? It's an 09 S3, if that should make any difference.

This is to reset the service interval to a 10,000 mile interval:

"Switch on Ignition, and then pull out the reset button (lower left of speedo). With the reset button out, SERVICE will appear in the display screen. Pull the button until SERVICE in ----- KM --- Days is shown on the display. If you don't pull the reset button within 5 seconds, the display screen will switch out of reset mode and revert back to normal display"

That was taken from my Haynes manual for a normal A3 (03 to 08). Should still work for an S3 i imagine?

Oh dear, I'd be going elsewhere if he failed on something as basic as this.

Well I guess we can all have a bad day, but I've given enough chances to rectify it, and sadly lost some faith. Shame as he's a nice chap and from the community who seemingly does a lot more complex car programming.

Anyway, now I need to find someone with a VCDS local (North east), unless c.long's method works. Anyone care to help?
