I've been looking for a set of S3 twin blade 19"'s since February, and none have appeared, lockdown didnt help!

So debating going for replica's.

I dont have any real objection to replica's, I've seen them out last genuine wheels, so as long as the weight is relatively the same and the quality good, from a trust maker, I can't see the harm, just a little OCD'ness!

But I appreciate with so many on the market, getting a 'good' quality set of reps is essentially the task. eBay is littered with them at varying prices from £500 up to a grand.

Anyone used a specific replica that they had no issues with, and maybe a good supplier?

I do like that design of alloy and did nearly buy some similar myself. Personally I’d never go for replicas heard too many horror stories online, but sounds like you’re only looking to go with well known brands.

I’d say a grand sounds very expensive, I paid £900 for 4 brand new genuine RS3 19 inch rotor alloys all with new PZero Tyres, personally I’d wait a bit longer to see if any genuine ones come up, you shouldn’t loose any money come resale time either then.

I think the horror stories relate to the really cheep Chinese replicas rather than actual brands that make replica's. To be fair, I've seen genuine Audi wheels crack more easy than reps, so that was my thinking..but you did pretty well on yours with brand new skins!

The other alternative is this, S3 replica option wheel, but with a grey insert...I like the original Audi ones in this design..but I missed the only set that came up a few months ago due to lockdown, went for around a grand.

I bought a set of these recently on eBay. You have to be quick and willing to travel as most sets tend to be collection only.

The main benefit of the S3 saloon wheels is they’re forged (mine weigh 19kg with half worn Pirelli tyres - 2kg lighter than the 17 inch wheels they replaced). Replicas will most likely be cast and much heavier.

The ones in Leicester? Yeah I was under lockdown so couldnt get to them, when I checked back they where gone!

Good point about the weights, I'll definitely enquire before committing to reps.

I collected mine from Coventry - a 300 mile round trip. The seller cancelled the auction to avoid eBay fees and I paid cash. The fees can get a bit silly otherwise. There was a bit of trust involved with this arrangement, but my long standing eBay account probably helped reassure the seller that I’d turn up as promised.

Have you had a look at https://www.ldprestige.co.uk/? I ordered a set of 19" RS6 reps for my S3 and they were really nice and not heavy compared to the 18" oem wheels.

Quite pricey tbh and being in Europe, I imagine heavy shipping charges on top, but thanks for the suggestion. What weight per wheel did your reps come out at?

From this thread: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/someone-with-rs6-reps-from-ldprestige-center-caps-size.367505/

To help others with the same question as me: I ordered a set of 69mm caps from ebay to replace oem part 4B0 601 170 A and they fit perfect.

And just some bonus info, each wheel weights 22,4kg (49,4lbs) with the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 235/35 on it. In comparison the 18" oem rims wrapped in 225/40 Dunlop Winter Sport 5 weights 20,4kg (45lbs) each. 2kg extra per corner for 1" extra in diameter as well as 1" extra in width is okay imo.

Thanks for the info @Lehn ! They look great on Daytona..I'd be really tempted with going that route myself...just concerned over the ride height as mine is just an S-Line

If it's an S-Line with sportsuspension it's the same ride height as the S3 :)

Sadly it dosent have any mention of that option on the receipt so I presume its just standard S-Line

In saying that, looking on MyAudi, it does denote 'Sport suspension'...

Maybe someone can help me here but I think the S-Line come stock with sportsuspension and that you have to actually choose the normal suspension if that's what you want. Try posting a picture, then it's easy to see.

EDIT: just saw the above post. You got the same ride height as the S3 then :racer:

I think the S3 is 5mm lower than the S-Line Sport Suspension, I remember reading it somewhere, but I guess 5mm isn't much to worry about

Hmm yeah you're right. It's quite a jungle but I know there should not be a lot in difference in ride height between S-Line suspension and S3 suspension. I know the magride makes it sit 5mm higher tho.

I found this thread with some more info and efter reading different posts it seems it's more the characteristic rather than the ride height that changes between the different sport suspensions and S3 suspension: https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/a3-on-s-line-suspension-dealer-locator.210106/#post-2086157

That said, 19" will suit your car no matter what I'm sure.

Lol, or look like wagon wheels and then Id have to spend another grand putting a Bilstein kit on it :)

Looking at photos , an S3 does look slightly lower than mine to be fair, Ill try to take a flat ground photo of it this week...

Also hoping someone might come along shortly with an offer for some genuine wheels :)

As far as replicas go, I had 19" replicas on my S3 and lowered with 2 sets of 235/35/19 P zero/s - no issues at all (I did about 30K on them)

Cheers dude, I think theres no real issues with running Reps, its just the weight of them especially at the 19"" mark, seems to be the size when they really add on the metal!

Its annoying as REps and tyres come out close if not more than the going price of a set of OEM's with part worns...but Covid has surely made sure cars arent getting broken as much this year as last. Barely any wheels coming up used.

Frankly, I would take a good quality replica over a used OEM. That used OEM alloy may have had some serious damage done to it during an accident and repaired on the cheap.
I also run replica Hartmann RS6 19" x 8.5".....yes they are marginally heavier but are a 1/2" wider than the original forged 19" OEM alloys, which I still have, but were a pita to clean.
All OEM alloys are made by companies who specialise in alloy wheel manufacturing e.g. BBS and not the car manufacturer. Just make sure they meet, tested to JWL, VIA, and TUV standards.

Your car nearly turned me in wanting RS6 reps when I was looking around :) Stunning setup dude.

Food for thought on the good rep vs used oem wheels, Hartmann are pretty rare in the UK, and I imagine carry a more hefty price tag?

I run LDPrestige alloys during winter.

Never had any issues.

As per their website when you click on add 4 wheels to your basket.
It’ll calculate shipping etc from there.

Pointless me saying what they cost me as that was 3 years ago and a lots changed since then I imagine.

Yeah its cool, I had a good look and couldnt find any S3 replica's only the RS6 ones which Im not fully convinced by for mine...

Seems there are no reputable wheel makers that have done the S3 rims..

I know a lot of Vag owners buy from these.

I had (still have actually) a set of the 19" S3 replica alloys. I bought and got them shipped from China. The only issue with them is that they are heavier than the oem ones. The 19x8 ET45 alloys weight 12 kg each.

I have these just got them,

aftermarket kindov Audi style i guess. Didnt want anything too fancy or polished as the missus would just smack them to bits on kerbs.

they are Romac Venom alloys in 18x8J

Im tempted by the RS6's , although not sure the grey ones work on a Daytona Grey car (quick 5 minute photoshop below)

I think the Black ones may look better, but can't find a good photo of them to use in on this photo
