Replacing cv joint audi b5 1.8 fwd

My cv joint in ds front needs replacing. Ive got the part. Just need advice on how to actually fit the part. Help?? Please

Remove faulty one and fit new one with new gaiter

cut the clips off, use a hammer to knock it off the shaft, replace the circlip on the shaft, grease the end of said shaft.
slide the new gaiter and clip on, fill gaiter with grease, fit new joint, put gaiter over joint, tighten clips... and reassemble the other bits...?
