My battery which has been threatening to die for a while now, sadly gave up this morning. :(

It currently has a Bosch S3 fitted, is this the standard OEM part? Looking online it appears the S4 would perhaps be a better replacement?

(Car is an 3 door 2009 1.4 tfsi S-Line) Either Varta or Bosch seem best brands to go for....

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

Any battery that fits and has a 3 year guarantee. Just buy a decent brand such as Yuasa, Exide, Varta etc. They are all a lottery on how long they last.

I’m sure I’ve read on here many times that Bosch batteries are made by Varta?
The Bosch calcium battery in my old A4 lasted over 10 years and the factory Varta battery in my mums Merc lasted 12 , so I’m always biased in favour of Bosch/Varta tbh.

As above Varta make Bosch batteries. They are identical with different stickers on. A Varta silver dynamic is the same as an s5.
Bosch batteries always appear to be more expensive though.

Cheers All, many thanks for your help! :) - Went for a Varta Blue Dynamic in the end from Tanya. Spec wise it is the same as the Bosch S4, so a bit of an upgrade but as you say much cheaper than the Bosch branded one.
