Replace haldex unit

After some help really with the haldex unit. I've not had my s3 a year and had the haldex unit supplied from audi and had a reconditioned rear diff fitted under my warranty with the garage I got my car from in January and already my haldex unit has gone and the garage I purchased the car doesn't want to know. Audi are refusing replacing it under warranty also so I find myself no wondering for some ideas on getting hold of a haldex unit and a place to fit it. Has anyone replaced this unit before and how much would I be looking at?

When you say "it's gone" how have you diagnosed this?

Most likely is the pump is blocked, I would try replacing pump filter and oil first, next the controller may have got water in and that’s unlikely but possible. Check my thread for haldex service

These guys helped me sort mine out, haldexrepairs.co.uk. Good info and genuine parts. The hardware is very unlikely to fail. Audi doesn’t recognise the filter as needing changing but it does, the pump then blocks and then no haldex, wheelspinning at 60 isn’t fun

Not too bad of a job to do yourself if you have vcds.

Well I originally heard a sqeeking noise coming from the back like something was loose. I took it to local Audi specialist garage and they said it has been leaking a lot of oil around the rear diff. They said the rear diff needed replacing however when I sent it to the rear diff company they said it's fine but the haldex unit looks to have "popped" so u suppose it needs properly texting. Audi have said there's no pressure from the pump and it's leaking oil.

Yeah I'd be looking at finding a garage in the north west area to heopffuly do this for me. Was there a sound like something was loose and screeching

Another vote for haldexrepairs.co.uk. They helped me diagnose my haldex problem on my 2011 Audi TT. They supplied me new filter, pump and oil.
If you haven't got vagcom find someone local who has and get the fault codes read. Contact that company and they will put you in the right direction

Ah, no - no noise from mine, no fault warning lights, just traction control light flashing all the time and wheelspin everywhere!

I thought the haldex was part of the Dif and not available as a separate unit ?
If its any consolation i just had a new dif, cost me £4600, original one managed 50k miles. Beware of reconditioned Difs as there is not much you can change in them as the parts are not available. I had mine stripped down and was told it was fine but i didnt risk putting it back together and refitted, a new one stopped the whining...so despite what the specialist said just looking fine is no guarantee it is fine.
