Help Please Removing exhaust tips?

Hey all,

Had a session with a friend with an 8V S3 (FL) and the tips on that just whack out with a hammer and a bit of persuasion. Same doesn't seem to work on the S4, plus I noticed that the S4's tips are indented inwards on both sides, so I'm not even sure that they'll come off.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Would like to get them sparkly clean, easier when they're off the car.

Found out they're welded on as I thought, Google search works much better on this site than its own search function!
Tip of the day - coke (Pepsi Max works too!) And folded up silver foil is good at removing carbon deposits!

I cleaned mine with Silvo wadding: came up a treat.
