Anyone have a guide/info on how to remove the armrest from an 09 A3? Time to fix the creaking methinks. Many thanks.

I tried to fix mine the other day.... You need to remove the rear ash tray, then you should beable to see a large bolt. Unscrew that and the armrest comes free. Keep us updated.

Thanks!

I've removed the armrest and took it apart a bit, kinda stuck now though. Snapped some plastic on part no 8P0864207A/4 but I think it will be fairly cheap to replace. Otherwise you can't see it anyway.

So I have the arm rest removed, the round plastic sides off and I don't know where to go now. Can the felt on the inside be removed? Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

I think I've finally managed to cure all creaks, but I will refit the arm rest tomorrow and will know for sure. It doesn't make any noise now if you lean on it, twist it, etc. but it's not in the car yet! I've had it all apart, literally every little bit, took me 6 hours with some short breaks. Everything regreased, lots of felt added (and some removed, as there was so much it wouldn't go back together!)

It's covered in grease at the moment. Going to clean it off before refitting tomorrow. It wasn't easy and I have snapped some plastic, but you can't see it and I will pick up a replacement part for it from Audi sometime. I didn't make a guide, sorry, but I'm not taking it apart again to take pics! Sorry for the poor quality pics below, they were taken in a low light room with a phone camera.

to anyone considering doing this, there is a hell of a lot of grease, it will go everywhere. be warned. :)

Just to confirm - all creaks CURED. I now have a silent armrest. FWIW you can't buy the individual parts anymore for the armrest (apparently parts told me you used to be able to). You have to buy it as a complete unit so if you're taking it apart, be careful!
