Had the car remapped by RJM Remaps in Newcastle a couple of days ago. Mobile service who come to you. Fantastic service and all done in around an hour.
Gone from 190 bhp/400Nm to 225bhp/470Nm. The car is transformed. Far more responsive and the torque is drastically better. Anyone in the Newcastle/Northumberland area who wants a remap, I would highly recommend Richard.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did it cost?

ECU removal is quicker and it will show up any previous remaps. An OBD port remap will not reveal a previous remap, so the car gets remapped then the owner complains that its no different. If the Remapper then offers to reset the car back to factory settings, not only does it remove his remap, but also the previous remap. The customer now complains that it is down on power since he touched it. Easier to remove the ECU.

I was promised identical numbers from my superchips remap and agree it's transformed the car.... I even managed some wheelspin in economy mode yesterday which I didn't think was possible in the dry!

Why was it not done through the OBD?

OP answered the question above :)

Not entirely sure about it being quicker mind although the ECU on the A6 is far more accessible than other cars!

it’s quicker because the OBD method takes longer to upload (apparently). The ECU removal method cuts the time down, but the main reason is as I stated above; the ECU method shows up any existing remap, OBD method doesn’t

I thought the OBD directly connected to the ECU.

I thought the OBD directly connected to the ECU.

Via the cars CANBUS systems. By removing the ECU you interface directly to it using the appropriate pin out positions

To write the file via OBD can vary between 10-20 minutes depending on the car. I know my own A6 takes just under 20 minutes to write the file to the ECU.

Writing directly to the ECU can trim a few minutes off it but then you also spend a few minutes removing it, depending on its location. The A6 is one of the easier ECU’s to get at :)

A nice gain out of interest is this a dyno proven figure? I’m always confused when companies can claim gains with no dyno graph proof? Red in a C7 black edition for me takes some beating :) I’ve just got a Daytona grey one and I spent near on 2 months searching for the right spec one and didn’t see one Red one within in my search requirements!

i had a dyno graph for the remap developed for my car, obviously every car is different so it will be producing more/less depending on variables - dyno runs cost money, and not every remapper has access to one
