Hi guys was just wondering, i got my audi 2.5 v6 180 remapped on sat and its definatly better acceleration. But the only thing is compared to standard figures i dont see much of a difference between 0-60 its more top end it thows me in the seat. Im clocking between 8.5 and 9.5 secs verious times. I even looked at the spec for a standard spec and it says that 9 secs is the 0-60 as standard. Is this normal or should i take it back. I wasnt able to put it on the dyno as its the quattro. Any help would be appreciated.

As you have found 0-60 is not a very good repeatable measure of a cars performance. I may be wrong but I seem to recall that the 180 2.5 v6 doesn't respond that well to mapping.
Typically you could expect 20-25% improvements in power so 36-45bhp on a 180 bhp turbo diesel but I think the pump limits these engines and you have to modify that or change the injectors to get significant power increases. Chris Adams @adamss24 is the person to ask about these, he is a bit of a specialist on these engines.
If you could get it on the dyno you may find power has increased to 200-210bhp, enough for you to feel the difference. A better test of performance is probably an in gear acceleration run say 3rd gear 30-70.

Karl.

I was talkin to him before about tuning it. Cheers mate il give him a shout. Its said to be set at 215bhp as the person that done it had to go to england to his mate and write it there. Il give that a try n see. I saw alot of videos on youtube with seemingly the same power and they seem to be alot quicker aswell.

Feck knows - everything seemed fine with the engine.
New cams, lifters.etc around 20,000 miles before, fuel pump timed correctly.etc
All logs giving good figures - no fault codes.
I have always found this engine to be abit of a let-down personally.

It felt a little better after the remap, no idea what kind of power it was running beforehand!

On the flip side - I have just had the missus' car remapped, 223bhp straight to 258bhp - proper pocket rocket.

Oh dear. I rang a few ones over here with dynos but no luck with 4wd fs. I suppose i may keep trying. I spent a bit making sure the.engine and cams and turbo were in good condition and got timing belt, water pump etc. I am goanna have to ring torquetronix again and see what they can do. He cant write a custom map if it cant go on the dyno fs

I remapped mine with a blacksmoke map. 0-60 hasn't really changed as 1st and 2nd gear hit redline quickly anyway. However, the pull from 3rd gear onwards is vastly improved! Even my old man noticed the difference. My mpg has slightly improved by 2mpg.

Yes mate mines the same but i was advised earlier to give the turbo a clean and the actuator aa that should make a big difference. Im hoping to do this at the weekend so il let you know how it goes

You guys need to drive a proper mapped v6 tdi, there are so many limiters in the ECU that many tuners are finding hard to do properly especially on later cars with pre-ignition... I have a friend's allroad which is running a gt2266 hybrid turbo, 80% larger nozzles, alloy boost pipes, alloy intercooler, Sachs SRE clutch and it's easily pushes 300 bhp ! In a 2 tonne barge on cheap 17" tyres with Ferodo ds2500 pads and rs6 antiroll bars it's really a handful ! I would take this to a dyno very, very soon, Alex is still running the clutch in- i just fitted a new gearbox and the above clutch last week ! In gear acceleration is savage and gives my 370 Bhp b6 s4 a very, very good run for the money !

I have just sold my old allroad tdi last night, that with almost all the mods above bar a clutch it was pushing 330 Bhp, not bad for a 15 years old barge with the dynamics of a wardrobe ! rs4 b7 brakes and rs6 antiroll bars + 20" alloys were screaming for grip ! Here's a little clip...

Mate I sent u a pm the other day on advice. How much would that work out about roughly to get it to that standard? Where would be the place to go for the larger nozzles? I don't really know what I'm looking for in rathe nozzle side. Also the boost pipes etc. I saw a few upgrade turbos on ebay and tbh not a bad price. Again another problem for me is trying to find a 4wd dyno in northern Ireland. I rang a fella about it and no longer has it.

I need more details about your car (year and engine code) and possibly a flash from your ECU or the ecu part number so i could start with a file... I can put together a package for you: nozzles, hybrid turbo, boost pipes and a clutch to put all that power on the road... What stage you want to go for ?
Stage 1
Stage 2
Stage 3 or
Stage 4 ?

Stage 1 is : remap and hybrid 2056 turbo 220 Bhp
Stage 2 is : hybrid 2056 turbo, 60% larger nozzles and remap 250-260 Bhp
Stage 3 is: hybrid 2060 turbo, 80% larger nozzles, alloy boost pipes, intercooler, remap, 4 Bar map sensor and remap 300 Bhp
Stage 4 is: GTB2260vk turbo, 80% larger nozzles, alloy boost pipes, remap, 4 Bar map sensor, remap, race clutch 330 Bhp
Stage 5 is totally custom and includes a choice of hybrid GTB2366vk, GTB2266 Vklr (ball bearing) for the best spool that can be achieved from a VNT turbo ! +350-400Bhp is within reach !

The stage 3 sounds awesome tbh, what's the difference in the turbos from stage 2 and stage 3? Do they need to be modified to fit as my mate put a turbo on his bora and it came from a volvo car. He had to modify it to fit. How much would it be for the stage 3? How would I flash the ecu mate?

Turbo will be a hybrid, basically larger compressor and turbine machined into the existing gt2052 housings with new bearings, stagger gap oil seals and in as new condition with VNT set up on a flow bench for optimal gain. All will be plug and play and look stock without looking much modified !

Stage 2 uses a 56mm compressor and stage 3 uses a 60mm compressor and larger turbine.

You will either have to send me the ECU to flash or you can buy a Galletto lead and flash it trough the OBD yourself...not recommended as you can brick the ecu if not savvy enough !

I will drop you a pm with rough figure !

Hi Chris, this is what we were talking about earlier today so can you send me a rough quote for the Stage 3 please?

Does this mod make turbo lag worse or will it actually improve my low down response?

Thanks!!

Nick

It will improve boost troughout the rev range and will make the car feel as it should come from the factory ! The turbo will spool as low as 1200 rpm's and you will have full boost by 2200 rpm's and will pull seamless all the way to redline !

Stage 3 suits me to the ground. How much will it be mate? My mate can do the work so if I was to send you the ecu he will be able to fit all the parts.

I dont know much about the specifics of this engine, but surely its better going with an off the shelf turbo (like the GTB2260 used on the newer 3.0's, or the GTB2056 etc) rather than hybridising the crappy first gen turbo these cars had from the factory...

The GTB turbos are much much better than the old first gen VNT stuff, and even if you only tune it to stage 3 levels you'll probably end up with a nicer all round package and there shouldnt really be any huge difference in cost.

What clutch would be recommended for about 420-450Nm or a little more?
My standard clutch started to slip around 2000rpm in fourth and higher with just a stage1 remap. Should the standard clutch hold that much torque?
