not sure if my 8v has diamond cut rims but the mobile refurb guy said he couldn’t refurb like New the areas due to the effect I have. It’s like a two tone look in silver. He said he could spray it silver but then it would not match the other 3.

So what do people do if they want their alloys like new again? Take it back to audi?

Thanks

Don't bother taking it to Audi as they will give to someone local they signed a deal with who will, most likely do a sh*t*y job. Not sure where you are based but there are some places which will do a really goidjob for you like the one below:

I have diamond cut on my S4 refurbed by them and tbh they look better than the OE.

Sounds good. How long did the process take? I see they’re in Swindon and I’m bristol based so that’s handy. I assume you drop Car off and collect another day?

At least a week on both the occasions. You can ask them for replacement alloys (not sure how much they charge) or courtesy car (which is usually a rental and you've to pay extra). I booked via Enterprise for a week and asked them to deliver to their place for an extra charge.

Www.proalloys.co.uk in Melksham. Had my RS wheel done there after the misses curbed it after three weeks. They do a full comprehensive refurb, I couldn't tell the difference. And I'm super critical.

Worth checking with your local Audi dealer they may have the in house capabilities of wheel refurb. I know my local dealer Stirling Audi has in their new PDI centre, at least you would have better come back if job is rubbish.

Another vote for Platinum Alloys here. They totally refurbed one of my S3 wheels a couple of years ago. Could never tell the difference.

I had one done on my RS3 & it was at my local specialist dealership. Lent me a car as they needed the wheel for over a day but fantastic job & looks like new.

Had my V Spoke Alloy (Diamond Cut) refurbed to fix the damage caused after curbing. Haven’t got a photo of the repair as the weather has been awful, but picked up when it was dry and couldn’t tell the difference at all. I had to look back at the original pictures of the damage to work out where the repair had been done. Only cost £60 too :footy:

Tbh, I will be slightly concerned with any refurb place taking 24 to fix a diamond cut. They must have skipped a few steps!

Sounds like a bodge job, takes a week to do a proper diamond cut refurb. That said, small scuffs can be wet and dried out if you have the patience and time (see a previous thread of mine)

Also worth phoning a few dealerships as some have teamed up with reputable diamond cut refurb companies and offer a swap service. A year ago Hitchin Audi had teamed up with a company in Milton Keynes to offer this service.

I know Mercedes Benz use Pristine Alloy Wheel Refurbishers in Milton Keynes and so did Audi (not sure if they still do them or not). My uncle has used them couple of times for his S-Class alloy refurb and for his son's E-Class and they did a really good job.

I agree with that not all dealerships are the same, some do offer the "service" that you and I would expect from the likes of Audi, Merc and BMW but such dealerships are few and far between. And apologies if I sound a bit too sceptical its just that I have lost faith in dealerships, completely! I use them only to buy cars and for them to honour the warranty. For anything else I'll use reliable workshops/specialists who take pride in what they do; like for example Detail My Car - Swindon based detailers. I will be happy to leave my S4 and A3 with them and ask them to get everything done on it. And I know they will not disappoint me!

There are no car dealerships where I live that have the equipment or expertise to do diamond cut wheels. There are 3 wheel repair shops however that can repair damaged alloy and diamond finish wheels and that is all they do for dealerships, body shops and individual customers. I had one alloy done and as as others have stated I could not spot the difference between the repaired wheel and the originals. Not cheap though but a lot less than a new wheel.
