Or has anyone got some great experience with other mechanics?

You may struggle getting opinions for garages in Aus - most of our users on here are from the UK.
Personally, If im using a garage then I will use a VAG specialist.

I have learned from past experience that independent garages may be slightly cheaper - but if they are not familiar with a certain car or job then it can actually take them longer which may end up costing more than a specialist would!
